I'm the one of the guys that Nick can't understand. I never actually watch the anime but I listen to every single episode. You're unbridled, exuberant laughter has made me about 85% sure that I will actually watch this episode. Btw: I subscribe so that I can support you because I believe that the three of you talking is a wonderful place for me to spend time listening.

The forth Gundam guy could be into the fascism

This show is the reason I know what sounds all animals make in japanese

beatnikbedlam

so glad that you guys ended up liking this!! also highly recommend checking out this studio’s other shows too, CyGames is consistently putting out weird and awesome original anime. their recent mech series Bang Brave Bravern is truly a masterpiece

Wanted to share something I weebed recently that you all may like, especially resident sporto Wiger: Kon Ichikawa’s 1964 documentary Tokyo Olympiad. It is gorgeously shot and astoundingly humanistic, fascinated with athletes’ bodies, spectators’ smiles, and a dream of human connection without boundaries. A really lovely 3-hour watch on my Memorial Day morning.

Man, I’d love it if you all give in to becoming Gundam-guys! Especially after this week’s Gquuux ep, continuing to exploit nostalgia of original Gundam in a way in really loving. I’m a longtime Gundam fan, starting with Wing in the early 2000’s like many of us in the West. I’ve really enjoyed Heather’s journey and developing love for Gundam these last few years and that enthusiasm got me to finally try out Gunpla a few months back…. and now I spend far too much time researching and perusing Gunpla sites. Combined with Gquuuux’s connections to the original show, I’m really feeling like I’m on a big Gundam-fandom-revival at the moment. Excited for Heather to one-day get into some of the vast amounts of non-Universal Century content, Iron Blooded Orphans is a favourite of mine- with a rarer melee focused lead Gundam, Gundam Barbatos, who’ll bash the heck out of everything, I think she’ll love it.

I’m one of the weirdos who don’t watch along, but y’all sounded like you had a great time. This show has been on my list due to being a favorite of a lot of the discord regulars, but y’all’s reactions have moved this up to my next watch.

Akiba maid wars is some anime ass anime. There are some people in the discord that really do care about your time, have your best interest in heart and are not just trying to troll you to watch hentai. Heather, now imagine if the studio that brought you akiba maid wars produced a show about mechs. that is “bang brave Bravern”

Rebecca Moretti

yay, that was me! I recommended Shuna's Journey. I'm just so happy you liked it!

Notrock

On behalf of all the other most annoying discord users: you're welcome.

Just wanted to let ya'll know, if Amazon is an issue, either practically or ethically, Maid Wars is also on HiDive and they often have a free 1-week trial going so I would recommend it as an alternative to Prime. Love the show, also recently saw Michael Clayton and was so focused on the plot that I completely missed those were Eva figures.

Nothing, not even the sudden murder in the cold open, could have prepared me for the escalation from cutting a braid off as if it were a pinky, to the massacre of the entire Wuv Wuv Moonbeam cafe staff. Never in a million years would I have guessed that would be a sentence that I’d type out.

Matthew Siegel

Gotta love fandom, Heather knows more about Gundam than 99.99% of the population, but won’t deem herself a Gundam Guy because it would be rude to those in the 99.999th percentile.

Dr. Pepper (for mama)

When Heather said, “Even though I didn’t get an opportunity to weeb anything this week…the weebing found me”, I gasped. And maybe even teared up a little bit. Lol. I love this podcast.

BensDecoy

I feel like all of the anime featured during this year’s aniMAYhem were roughly equivalent, or at least more alike than they were different. The hosts went nuts for Maid War (to each their own) but while it was nice watching four decent contemporary programs I do kind of miss the wider scope of genres, quality, and production decades from last year’s series. Edit: My rankings for general interest in these particular shows: Lazarus (kept watching with my GF) Birdie Wing Maid War Horimiya

To Matt: Another Earth has a great premise but the movie was kinda mid. But, I think it's still worth watching for the soundtrack and ending. Coherence was a better movie with similar themes (ie. what would you do if there was another "you" out there?)

KidKimura

Holy fuck this show is not even close to what I was expecting. This was the most fun watch along you guys have done, I'm definitely watching the rest of it.

Rae Watney

I be been waiting for this day since the last episode of chainsaw man! So glad you guys finally watched this, it always centres me when I've had a bad month (watch out for the post credits on some episodes!)

Steven_pistachio

Please cover this maid show- also- tiger is missing the point- all we want to ride along on good or even bad experiences - gush on good films, we will listen gladly, zaddy

clearplastichuman

why arent there more original animes that arent a manga animation?

BruceWayneBrady

I've NEVER heard of this maid show before but holy fuck, my mouth must have dropped 4 times. I HAVE to see all of this show because that was a fucking experience. Watching it with the podcast made it even better. Shoutout to whoever recommended that.

Mark Pangle

I think this was a successful animayhem, but was bummed the wheel was weighted. Feels like there would of been some weirder picks if it was completely random. Also a recommendation it's a quick watch: Girl from the other side. It has this really cool hand drawn pencil animation that is super beautiful. The story is dream like and gripping.

homer Thompson I

It is incredibly frustrating listening to you guys wrath classics like ninja scroll and your name and that you're not covering it...

Kyle

I finally got to catch End of Evangelion in a packed theater this week. The person presenting the movie asked if anyone was watching the movie without watching the show and about fifteen people raised their hands... One of those people shouted a gutteral "UGH" when Misato delivered the "That's how grownups kiss..." line. Getting to see one of my favorite movies on the big screen while watching others experience it for the first time was an absolute treat. They even had an lcl themed cocktail

Murphy

Listening to the episode on my way home from seeing Bring Her Back (highly recommend) and the best body switch plot line I’ve ever seen is in the little seen adaptation of Tales from the Loop (also highly recommend).

parenthesesONE

I watch on my own and then listen later. Hearing you guys watch this, going through every insane event in my head and listening to you guys react to the gradual madness was a treat. Please make this the next series on get animed

That Josh

Watched whole Maids series after listening to this. WOW…. That’s one devious panda

Alexis Talavera

Guys, if you do Maid Wars as a series, please do it as a live watch-along. Hearing the "JESUS CHRIST!" at the head shots had been cackling, and I'd love to keep that jaw drop feeling as we watched.

Deacon Raid

Heather mentioned that she’s seen lots of romance anime. I’ve discovered this is something I really dig and was hoping for more recommendations!

Benjamin Morgan

Well I was planning on thinking this show would be silly and that I would just sign up for HiDive long enough to watch the pilot…but…I guess I’m going to watch the whole show. This was just crazy!
