After stehe first season I continued with the manga and there is still not one recurring character, I don't like. I think the creators know, that their characters are great, because (mild spoiler) they all come back in some capacity.

I had the horrible realisation about GQuuuuuuX that it's the anime equivalent of all those Peter Engel teen sitcoms of the 90s, where you have guys in their 50s and 60s making a show about teenagers, but it's full of references to things from their childhoods, rather than things actual teenagers would like.

Alexander Acosta

Matt, for your Santa movie was it miracle of 34th Street?

1) Dandadan fucks, I'm so glad it's back. 2) Guys, I gotta tell you, a couple weeks ago when you mentioned none of you had completed Avatar: the Last Airbender, my jaw dropped. It's my absolute favorite piece of media of all time. It is probably the most influential show on who I am as a person, and one of the only tattoos I have. You would all LOVE it. It has beautifully correogeaphed fights, compelling and believable characters, unique world building, well-written narrative, and very introspective lessons. Although still great, S1 is a little more episodic at first, but by end of S1 and into S2/3, it really settles in as a Masterpiece. It's obviously not "anime" and too long to watch on the show (61 episodes), but as one of the masterpieces of modern television (it aired 2005-2008), I have to highly recommend you guys check it out some day. Also, reference to Get Played, it has THE single best uncle-nephew relationship with Uncle Iroh and Prince Zuko. Zuko's arc is widely regarded as one of the best depictions of struggle and character growth in all media.

I just read all of My Dress Up Darling. I loved it. It was sweet and yeah a little horny. But mostly very sweet and it gets less horny as it goes on.

I don't know who Turbo Granny thinks she's fooling. Saving a girl from a bunch of creeps in a bathhouse seems very much her kinda thing.

Deacon Raid

My Dress Up Darling is so good that my wife bought a new sewing machine after watching the first season.

When I finished season one of Dandadan I read all the manga and I don’t know how Nick didn’t with that cliffhanger. Based on the opening credits for this season, it looks like this season will end with the reveal of the character who is heavily evangelion-coded so I’d recommend continuing to read that (instead of One Piece).

Genuinely curious why you guys chose Birdie Wing? You were all so into Akiba Maid War

David Mucci

I heard the mirth in Nick’s voice and was totally expecting another rug pull, but I’m so glad he’s back on the One Piece train! Nick, as someone who also focused mainly on getting through the manga, I think you’ll naturally find yourself wanting to see some things animated and will find yourself dipping into the anime, which is more inconsistent but has some iconic and incredible music, and more recently some dare-I-say groundbreaking animation?

Deandre Gibson

Honestly you all should continue dandadan I've read up to volume 13 and shit gets even more crazy not to spoil too much but we get a mech vs godzilla and hey Matt, they get beam powers

Please, please, please read up on Spy x Family. Not too long ago it had one of the best horrors of war *and* love as a redeeming factor story arcs in recent memory. Not spoiling the context of it, but it’s absolutely beautiful.

The author of Dan Da Dan must really be a fan of Nick's. There's literally a bath house scene with a bunch of gaters that wanna be sucked off

Shane Phillips

My guess: Matt is remembering the scene from the Santa '85 episode of Amazing Stories, but the dialogue from Esrnest Saves Christmas. The same actor plays Santa Claus in both!

Giuliano B

Hey people! Big fan of the pod! Just had to say jiji side kicking momo in the stomach is gnarly and would be the worst possible punishment ever Also what’s the horniest anime nick has seen ?

Patrick M.

Heather during animayhem: “I’m never going to watch Birdie Wing ever again.” Heather at end of this episode: “ We’re watching Birdie Wing!”

Caped_baldy

I think the movie matt was talking about was Miracle on 34th Street. It stars David attenburrough as Kris kringle and Mara Wilson as the protagonist. I memory holed this movie, but you're description of Santa getting arrested gave me a frightening childhood flashback. Thanks!

Shaun Anderson

My dress up Darling is such a great slice of life anime… but it IS very horny! In kinda a sweet, coming of age sorta way.

I’m sitting here wondering…has anybody at get played get animed watched an anime called gintama? It’s a comedy at the forefront but there’s some arcs that showcase a wonderful ability for story telling, it’s a great anime that made me laugh as much as I cried, good large amount of episodes and it made fun of me on about three different occasions for binging the content, it was a beautiful piece of media and if I need to point talk to a season that does IT for the series I’ll comb through and have something , desperate to hear ANYBODY cover it

DannyC

"good large amount of episodes" you say? **goes to check** 375 eps?! i dont know what i was expecting but damn dood thats a lot of content to cover. interesting you led its a comedy first. i hope you find a deep dive into it somewhere
