My mum also still brings up how I made her go see the first pokemon movie. Will never forgive me for it.

I don’t disagree with “birdie wing doesn’t go far enough” but it also sound like a take from someone that has such a high sugar diet that they can’t taste the sweetness of an apple…or they’ve watch so much porn that they need to find the niche stuff to finish. But also they gave an anime teen big Scottish old man side burns and that’s pretty good.

Heya Heather! If you guys want a French Revolutionary Manga series, check out Shin-Ichi Sakamoto’s stellar, award winning series, Innocent. Localized by Darkhorse comics. The sequel Innocent:Rouge Also we have a the recent localization of Shirato Senpai’s Socialist masterpiece, Legend of Kamui. Set in 1700’s feudal Japan.

Darth Maul’s tainted Tit’s

After the brief discussion about chainsaw man and knowing how much you guys liked look back, i really think y’all would enjoy Tatsuki Fujimoto’s one shot manga Good bye Eri. It literally broke my heart into a million pieces.

Despite generally not caring for this show, I don’t think it’ll be forgettable. I’m sure I will still remember it as “that golf anime that took some wild swings but ultimately didn’t connect for me.” The Endless Eight, however, I think about almost all the time as one of the most structurally ambitious and confounding things I’ve ever seen in a TV show. Talk about a wild swing.

“Nana” has been my go-to wind down show this summer! Bummer about the movie, but highly recommend the show for anyone looking for that coming-of-age slice-of-life comfort food!

Old Man Kate

The first premise wasn’t strong enough to last a whole season and now we have 4 episodes to do something interesting with a love story that I don’t think will be resolved either. This is a dud of a show.

I am so sorry to disagree with you, Matt. I think we need more niche comic book characters, actually. Anyway, two One Piece things: The live action adaptation is kind of great. The live action cast *are* the Strawhats to me at this point. They’ve managed to embody exactly what Nick mentions being so charming about Oda’s work. Second, they’re coming out with a “remaster” anime produced by Wit called The One Piece that is supposed to be a 1:1 adaptation of the manga without filler. That may be a good entry point, if y’all wanna hop aboard without the “there’s…so much show” aspect of the OG adaptation.

Half the fun of Get Anime'd is being introduced to shows I probably never would've watched otherwise, and then despising them. The other half is learning about Jay Leno and Austin Powers.

One of my biggest air travel surprises was being served meals with real metal cutlery in economy class on ANA. It also felt like there was more legroom on that plane than on the United flight I took on the way to Tokyo.

Ted Kord

Nick: "the golf here is played pretty straight" Me: "have you been watching this show? This golf is definitely not straight"

Coy_o_Coy

I had no idea the shonen jump app was so cheap! Thank you for your service journalism!

Coy_o_Coy

Matt after hearing you talking about the Fantastic Four run you’re reading, I gotta know if you also read Hickman’s X-Men run and what you think about the mutant island of Krakoa. For my money, it’s the best X-Men since early 2000s Messiah Complex, which is what first got me into comics after finding it at my local library.

I'm on team Heather about this show and I'm done watching it. But I'm still going to listen to the podcast about it because I love you three (and Ranch)!

Drangus

Hey y'all, I love listening to these even though I stopped watching this show! Has anyone watched City: The Animation? It's one of the funniest anime I've ever seen, I usually really dislike anime comedies but this one is really good. And the animation is mind-blowing every episode. It's still on this season, maybe you will want to watch it when it's finished up. Or the other patrons might like it too.

If y’all are interested in an ‘anime’ set during the French Revolution I have to give a shoutout to Castlevania: Nocturne! The aristocracy is expertly portrayed as bloodsucking parasites (and some of them happen to be vampires)

Jack Byrne

Building off the suggestion for Wiger to watch Sound! Euphonium, You guys should cover Liz and the Blue Bird. It's a stand alone movie about 2 ancillary characters from the series. The movie is beautifully animated by Kyoani, and like the series the music is great.

clearplastichuman

Hey gang, i have a weeb adjacent question-- im not much of a movie guy but recently i went to see Seven Samurai on a whim at a local film museum (Heather you may know it, it is the EYE museum in Amsterdam). Anyway long story short, im bored and have since changed my entire personality to be the movie guy. Are there any live action movies you guys would recommend to someone who is unfamiliar with mostly Japanese, Korean or Hong Kong cinema but any non-english movie is welcomed as well. anyway goodluck in america. much love, Movieman 👍👍👍

Gintama make you holler, I understand you can’t get to every comment, too many! But gintama, my weekly recommendation, comedic semi period piece in do period Japan, if they were invaded by aliens, and they brought televisions and phones and vehicles, while I will say it’s a show that really has its moments that’ll bring me to tears and laughs, but it’s mainly just an episodic easy watch with wacky and fun characters that populate the world

Dr. Pepper (for mama)

I really love all the golf stuff. Some of the shots are insane, but technically possible. The opening credits show a stylized version of St. Andrew’s (Scotland). That’s a true deep cut for the golf nerds.

KidKimura

Given Heather isn't vibing with Birdie Wing I think a good choice for the next older series you cover would be Hajime no Ippo.

Zeon Liberation

Just had a flight two days ago. I had also heard never to get coffee on a plane and was in dire need of a coffee. They were selling canned cold brew on the flight. I was so thrilled and it was only slightly more than it would have been otherwise.

XRedGambit

This show kinda reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh. But in Yu-Gi-Oh he has the heart of the cards to bullshit his way to a win and it's mostly different. If he just used exodia every time it would be like this show.

Rational Knife

Not related to the show, but I just watched the latest episode of DanDaDan. The three of y’all should definitely be watching that and if Nick needs motivation picture this. Saeko in the rain with a tank top. Your welcome

Spudowski

I like that Vipère got loaded with cash, said FUCK IT to her snake image she was pushing, bought a yacht and then took out her fake teeth to show her boytoy her "special technique".

Tmacc

Heather is right; this show blows, and my friends made fun of me for watching it.

Tmacc

Also, you guys forgot the BEST dumb villain of all time. The "evil genius" Dr. Evil.

Pete Ficken

Pretty much all of the arch baddies in Fist of the North Star (proper) are dumb—but devastatingly strong. Not even excluding my boy Raoh. Dominant, but not super cunning

Bernardo

Did you know that Oasis had a song called “Falling Down” that was used for the OP of a 2009 anime called Eden of the East. For those unaware Eden of the East was created, directed, and written by Kenji Kamiyama (known for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex), though the song was only available for the first episode in the American and Canadian release I assume because Funimation could not afford to pay rights for every episode. I really enjoyed Eden of the East when it came out and I was so hyped thinking that Anime was more mainstream than ever having a band like Oasis on the OP.

Sean Sakimae

If Nick sticks with Birdie Wing, he will be rewarded. I got sucked into this silly-ass show and ended up binging the series in 3 days. There are some surprising emotional moments in it and a pretty satisfying ending. Heather, there ARE more characters with special skills throughout the rest of the series…(A la Blue Lock) but, I don’t think it’ll be enough to win you over.

Deacon Raid

I think the secret to enjoying Birdie Wing is getting in the mindset of a SoCal Surfer Dude because that's made it very enjoyable to me 🌿🌿🌿

Phillip Medoc

Gachiakuta is not very good, that commenter does not have very discerning taste. Maybe if it's the first shounen anime you've ever seen before, but ehh...

DebrafromHR

Uhm I need to talk about this... Latest dandadan episode...no spoilers but how great is the song?! I've listen to it on Spotify at least a billion times and is now my workout song ..so hyped. I hope the guys get to hear it and love it as much as I do in the future especially heather
