I was in a focus group for the Sega Dreamcast. It must have been in 1997 or 1998. The group was asked about what to name Sega’s new system. I told them that Dreamcast was a bad name. I told them to call it Genesis 2 or Genesis 128. They didn’t listen. And the rest is history!

Power Stone is criminally underrated

Great Episode! Very enjoyable "content" tell Heather she was worried for nothing! Can't wait to hear her experience with the Gundam game she didnt know existed.

Grant Prusi

This works as content if you don’t watch along, don’t worry.

Big Chunk of the fanbase

Shocked that heather would even consider an ostrich egg because she would need to spent like $2000 just to get one egg cooked

MS Paint Trash

I think Heather is onto something with her Microsoft/Dreamcast conspiracy theory. If true, it's wild the Dreamcast is partially responsible for both Nvidia and the Xbox

Randall Savage

Still on the edge of my seat waiting for them to make the Shenmue to Yakuza connection

I believe the term Heather was looking for at the beginning is “scorched earth”. And the fact that modern day birds evolved from dinosaurs leads directly to one of my dumber pet peeves. Whenever the phrase, “What came first, the chicken or the egg?” is used I can’t help but scream in my head, “The egg! The egg came first!”

You're telling me Heather didn't know about Gundam Side Story?! I was tempted to get a DreamCast and a crazy cockpit controllerat the time.

Just wanted to weigh in that I listened to this commute on the train into work, not watching along with the video but instead just looking out the window at the ocean.

One of my biggest gamer regrets is having a Dreamcast as a kid and hardly using or paying mind to the VMU screen in the middle of the controller. Before it’s time! What a fool I was.

Don't feel too bad about Gundam Side Story, it wasn't very good. But just a few years later Capcom had an NAOMI based Gundam game in arcades that was really great, but I don't think the arcade cabinet ever got an official release in the US (I remember them having on at the bowling alley arcade at San Jose State in 2001) and it had a really great port to the Dreamcast (in Japan) and the PS2 port did get a US release though with English only voices.

Ayyy San Jose State shoutout! Go Spartans!

Wait, does Heather know about Gundam Battle Assault? I’m not a Street Fighter person but I was absolutely obsessed with it!

Idk if a Sega Dreamcast (1999) Summer Internal Video DLC react podcast has ever made more sense

Pete Ficken

Oh yeah! I beat Slave Zero on the pc…. It sucked! Also yes blue stinger was here and it sucked

Pete Ficken

Yes it all makes sense, and yes Hydro thunder is good, and yes SF3 Alpha on Dreamcast is the best

Straychocobo

lol I have that exact same pet peeve, I feel so seen 👀 I stopped saying it out loud because every time I do I get a reaction like I just laid a huge fart

Straychocobo

Came here to make this same comment and glad to see it was already here. Agreed!

I did an internship for DC101 (promotions dept), back in 1999. We did events to promote the Dreamcast, giving away a free console at each one. We were promoting it at a Hooters, doing an NFL 2K tournament. My bosses made a bet with me: if I could eat 40 Hooters 911 wings, and drink 2 pitchers of beer, in 2hrs, they would give me a Dreamcast console. (If I lost, I’d have to streak in front of that Hooters. I won the bet, despite the servers having been told to fuck with me. I would play it years later, until it was stolen from me around 2010. P.S. I also streaked, for the fun of it. My bosses then gave me every game we had in the prize closet (5 in total).
