My wheelhouse! I watch dubs as often as possible because I love to pay attention to the animation and not be distracted by reading (grew up struggling with dyslexia), but if I have no other option and am pining for the new episodes the subs work fine.

The fight scene in between getting shot out of the building and when Denji's getting his arms cut off is not in the manga. I don't know if it was penned by Fujimoto for the anime or not but it might explain why it feels very non-CSM like. As a CSM manga reader it was a nice little gift to see some sparks fly that I wasn't expecting. A+ MAPPA whole season rocked

Robot House

Heather you should try Kaguya Sama Love is war. It can best be described as Stupid death note. Every episode turns a mundane teen thing into a battle of wits

Cal

Would love for y’all to cover Ghost In The Shell. Watched the second movie for the first time recently and was shocked by how cool and weird it was.

VHSMIA

Yea on CSM pacing! I finished JoJo Stone Ocean, but gosh it felt like a slllllllog. Also speaking of fights… Triforce of fights?

Ricardo Alanis

Just started this episode but, Heather, I’ve heard that hip/thigh area described as “thigh cleavage”.

Kevin Ela

Is it just me or is the audio very quiet?

Brent Hibbard

I haven’t listened to this episode yet because I’m waiting for the dubbed episodes to catch up (I know, I’m a real piece of shit). Anyway, was the next series/movie announced on this episode? I absolutely love watching along with this podcast and want to make sure I’m as current as possible!

Dan Photoman

it's funny how in the show they go back and forth between calling Katana Man Samurai Sword

David Craig

After hearing how much you all enjoy anime food, I sincerely hope you check out Food Wars. I think Nick and Matt would love it.

I watched the finale without realizing it was the finale and was so sad this Tuesday when there was no new episode. I think the fast pace is cool, but I kinda wish katana man was harder for denji to beat? I know we’ll learn more about him as a villain etc, the arc just felt too quick and easy, a longer fight sequence would’ve been cool.

Delia

Heather with a great point about anime shows completely leaving you in the dark after the season is over. I’ve watched so many nice little slice of life shows and it’s basically “whelp guess that’s done forever” after their first 12 episode seasons.

Arthur Newman

I agree with heather the train scene was just ok, it is a lot better in the book.

An alternative to an iPad to read Manga on a bigger screen than a phone is a much cheaper Kindle, sideloading Google store to get Shonen Jump and then binge-reading Chainsaw Man all the way up to the current Tuesday release, which will keep you up all night if you want to do it in a single seating, which you will, because damn

Ivan Lajara

On the issue of dubs: there is one and only one dub that is mandatory and that is Ghost Stories. I won’t spoil anything because you wouldn’t believe it.

Spayde

I remember reading the CSM and the anime had been announced at the time and I truly couldn't wait for the nut shot barrage on Katana Man to be animated. Played out exactly how I hoped.

Dissonance

Definitely recommend anyone who is missing the show to read the manga. Seriously, it’s really good, and you aren’t missing out on anything by going straight to the source.

i had hoped the rebuilds would be done later just because i wanted the crew to watch more non-Eva mecha anime in the time between. Eva is amazing all on its own but it blew my mind when i first saw it because I grew up on the kind of mecha anime it was redefining. gurren lagann is a goofy version of all this too and also gainax. anyway, this year blu-rays of post-1987 Macross is finally coming to the US(not sure when tho) and Macross Plus would be the perfect show for them to do. it's a 4 episode OVA with great music and classic mecha. im pretty sure I've said this all before, probably drunk, but saying it again!

If you guys are open to suggestions for what to watch next, Naoki Urasawa’s Monster is on Netflix and it’s awesome. Much different vibe than the series you’ve covered so far.

Scott H [Hugizu on Discord]

My suggestion for the new "Chain Reactions" segment, at least for the next few episodes about the Rebuilds is to call it "Re(Actions)."

doomer

I watch with subtitles but I may throw the dub on for my rewatch of the season so it can be my background show while I craft
