This part of Blue Lock is very relatable in that we've all had a group project where we needed one guy to just stand in the corner and not fuck it up for everyone else

Imagine that you were watching a game of Blue Lock, but on an actual sports broadcast. I am torn between whether that would be the most exciting thing ever, with all the anime action, or the most boring thing ever, with all the inner monologues and flashbacks.

If you could create a “battle anime” out of an ordinary situation like soccer, what would it be? I would love to see a competitive eating battle anime.

E7 - Bachira's butt in the dressing room... 10/10 would recommend. Favorite character.

I'd been enjoying the show, and loving the podcast, up to this point but after episode seven I'm fully hooked. Chigiri's leg being chained down is the best visual in the show so far and when he finally breaks free I got so pumped. Thanks so much for putting the show on my radar. I've never watched a sports anime before so this could have easily slipped by me and I really would have missed out.

What do you think Isagi's absolutely out of it parents are thinking right now? I'm hoping they reveal this is a Truman Show type situation and everyone in Japan is watching. Kuon's parents would be like "we raised an actual piece of shit."

Hey guys, loving your podcast and Blue Lock. I’m a big fan of soccer/futbol and I think I know where the anime got the Chigiri goal at the end of ep 7 from. Real Madrid vs Barcelona is the biggest rivalry in sports, their games against each other are called el clasico (the classic) and get average about 600-700 million viewers when they play each other (I believe only World Cup final gets more viewers) So in 2014, Gareth Bale is playing his first season for Madrid and against their biggest rival, in a tied game, with about 4 minutes Real Madrid wins the ball back from a corner and starts a huge counter attack run from Gareth Bale. Like Chigiri, he speeds down the left flank, kicks the ball about 20 feet in front of him knowing he can reach the ball faster than the defender (and the defender also pushes him out of bounds) and then continues his run and goes on to score a huge goal and seal the win over Messi’s Barcelona as an injured Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates his new teammates amazing play. A lot of big names and big teams in this moment and I like to think that Chigiri’s goal was inspired by this moment. I know this is more of a history lesson/context but as a fan of the sport I think it’s really cool. Here’s a link to the goal if you guys wanna watch it and thanks for all the content https://youtu.be/uBa8dYlqv8Y

Nick - Please stop calling Soccer “Football.” The Japanese word for Soccer is “Sakkā”. Anyway, love the show, Heather and Matt and I guess Nick are cool.

Every time they say Chigiri in the English dubbed, all I hear is the Jawas from Star Wars yelling "Utini!"

What activity would you do that would exhaust you to the point where you needed to be carried around the rest of the day on someone's back?

Eddarrd88

Is or was there ever something you could do that was so easy for you that you felt like Seishiro? If not, what would you like it to be now?

I'm curious, what do you guys think a goal smells like?

I think Wiger may have undersold the Chigiri run a little bit. I wouldn't quite say he uses his speed to beat Kuon to the spot and goes down and score. I'd probably say he blasts downfield, easily catches up to Kuon despite being incredible far behind him, taunts Kuon in the moment, kicks a pass ahead to himself (which is an insane thing to do past youth soccer), blows through both of the twins' attempt to foul him, then taps the ball in with the tip of his foot over the goalkeeper. Oh and all of this happens with a sick guitar riff and jet engine sounds to sell how fast he's going
