playing cyberpunk right when this dropped

David Mucci

I’m a bit behind on this show, but I am in Tokyo, so hopefully that makes up for it! They really love Evangelion here. Played an Eva-themed Pachinko machine and lost immediately. (I don’t know how to play Pachinko) EDIT: I just played a fucking Evangelion virtual reality/motion simulator game in EVA Unit 01. Christ, this place is amazing.

So glad to see you're covering Cyberpunk: Edgerunners! I've been working my way through your catalog to catch up and am so glad I made it to this point. I will gladly re-experience the trauma this show inflected upon me with you all. PS: when you played "I Really Wanna Stay At Your House" on the previous episode you ruined my day ;)

I saw edgerunners when it came out but didn't play the game at the time. Now I'm playing through the game for the first time for we-play-you-play and am enjoying all the shared environments. Lizzies, afterlife, even meeting Rogue in a montage just adds to both the game and anime worlds. It's like V and David are just two stories of millions to be told in Night City. Glad to be a part of the autumn of cyberpunk!

[whispers to date] "That's how you know it's Batman's horse."

After hearing Matt talk about Batman Ninja... Please cover Suicide Squad Isekai whenever it comes out! Some (possibly) better Batman experiences: Batman: the Jiro Kuwata Batmanga - originally published in the 60's, 3 volumes were recently published in English Batman Justice Buster - A new manga that just came out in the last couple months. Joker One Operation Joker - Another new manga where Joker is taking care of Batman who has accidentally been turned into a baby! And a special shoutout to Superman vs. Meshi, a manga where Superman flies around the world trying delicious food. (All of these are available on the DC Universe Infinite app!)

David is deku done much better with a more fitting/better ending.

Revisiting the show, I’m still just blown away by how incredible the palette is. Every frame just oozes cyberpunk eye candy and I effing love it! Also it’s so unified artistically; like every aspect from look to sfx to acting, music feels like part of a whole. (It reminds me of the way Persona 5 is stylistically totally unified like this too!)

Thinking about that silly Ninja Batman and how the Japanese might think the symbol is cool and that, centuries later, the Bat symbol might show up on the sides of Japanese Zeros and how, in present day US, Batman has an even bigger PR problem. Bruce Wayne has money, sure, but, like most rich assholes, he might not be too bright.

I'm playing CP2077 again, and watching the anime for the first time, and it's really cool to see the shared palette. From the areas to the sounds, to the weapons and clothing, I'm loving doing both and spotting little choosing! Last night, in-game, I recognized the spot where David and Lucy go jogging. However, I did pay too much attention to easter eggs, and got some anime things spoiled, so be careful chooms!

Really loved this show when I initially watched it and am curious to see Matt's reaction as he continues on the journey. My wife and I gave a "me like big lady" nod to each other when we saw Dorio. Sidenote (longer than main note): Recently started watching a show called "Shangri-La Frontier". Gamer that plays trash games decides to jump into a AAA game and is blown away by how good it is. Given the history of Get Played, I feel this anime might be very relevant to your interests. It is from the in-game perspective, so it's kinda isekai in nature.

The cyber psycho went nuts after getting a chrome hog.

I was totally going to recommend Batman Ninja if the pod ever needed recommendations just because of how banana-pants it is. I watched it years ago and I’m still not sure I’ve fully processed WTF I saw

If you could make a great anime set in a video game's universe, what game would you pick?

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury has been on my list ever since I heard Heather recommend it during the Lycoris Recoil episodes. I finally decided to give it a go recently and ended up tearing through it in a little over a week. I've now started the original 1979 Gundam show, and despite its age it seems really cool too. I fear I'm falling into a black hole of epic space opera and giant fighting robots from which I will not soon be able to escape.

I like how Nick described Faraday as “having SEELE eyes” and we’re all like, oh yeah, for sure.

Ivan Lajara

Don’t forget to watch (and discuss pls?) the anime video by Dawid Podsiadlo for the ending theme, Let You Down, which is basically an Edgerunners prequel standalone minisode. It’s short and hits hard, because of course it does, like everything else in Night City.

XRedGambit

I watched the show when it first came out and really liked it. I'm enjoying the second go around for it. The music is great on the show and the visuals are fantastic. I like when some guys head is blown off they leave the bottom jaw and tounge attached to the body still but the rest is gone.

robofunk

I wouldn't be surprised if Shangri-La Frontier will be the next series they cover.

I feel obligated to point out that a cyber uterus would be a next level upgrade. Schedule cycles/birth control, automatic baby delivery system...
