Full confession: I’m a dumbass who didn’t realise this was a Ubisoft property, I just knew there were hot gays in it. I was confused by Rayman but when my childhood friends Jade and Pey’j showed up it felt like I was having a stroke. 😅 Love the audacious weirdness of the show, even if I have mixed feelings on the whole.

Thank you guys for covering this show. I wasn't planning on watching it, but did since you were going to talk about it and I loved it! I've already finished watching it and think it only gets better as it goes. It seems like a minor miracle that Ubisoft allowed some of their major characters to say, do, and have done to them the things that happen in this show. The art is just as bold as the story; switching between different styles and often mashing them together. Here's hoping we get a second season!

Cody just can’t finish the story

Notrock

This show being half Newgrounds parody and half gritty cyberpunk doesn't serve either and just makes it feel like the Kidz Bop cover of Edgerunners

I’m so glad y’all enjoyed it too. It has a wild and frenetic energy like a coked up Captain N that I really enjoyed. It’s definitely not to everyone’s tastes, but I’m glad y’all had positive takes on it!

The only thing I liked about this show was when Dolph and Alex kissed. It was such a nice surprise that they were a couple. 🥰 That being said, this isn't for me so I'll just listen to you two explain it instead of watching along. 😊

JAY LENO JOKE INCOMING You know, I was watching that new Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. Have you seen this thing? It's like they took a blender, threw in '80s nostalgia, a dash of neon lights, and a sprinkle of cyberpunk. I haven't seen this many neon colors since I accidentally walked into a paint store during a disco party. I mean, the title alone sounds like they let a bunch of kids loose in a video game name generator. Captain Laserhawk? Is he fighting villains or hosting a rave? And the title, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix? I don't know if I'm watching a series or ordering a fancy cocktail. I half expect the bartender to serve it with a glow stick and a side of nostalgia.

I could watch a whole show/movie made from a mix of new and old-school videogame visual styles. The MGS and side-scrolling bits were fun as hell

Ubisoft is a disgusting and terrible company, but this show is a bit of a banger.

clearplastichuman

If Nintendo had any balls they would do something similar. I wanna see the wii fit guy french kiss bowser damnit

crystalhearts

this thing is the highest budget possible version of a 1999 newgrounds cartoon where mario says the f word and then explodes into blood and my interest in such things as an adult is uhhhh. low. but i respect the choice

David Mucci

This kind of just feels like edgelord Western adult animation where characters say fuck a lot. And a main female character dying so a male main character can have an epiphany or rage out is so tired.

corndog

fyi my government name is corndog. it was president mckinley's dying wish

Will K.

casting ray-man, one of their most well-known characters, as a propaganda-spouting government puppet is just *chef's kiss*

Kyle Caulfield

Not sure if this is anime, but it's been fun so far

Michael Pemulis

This podcast smells good, but Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix stinks.

Deacon Raid

Binged this all in one sitting. Fucking rules. Thanks for choosing it. I probably would have missed it otherwise. I hope there is merch of the frog. I love products!

Byron Lagrone

too violent to watch w/ my partner but I've loved what I've seen so far. Glad y'all are covering this

Deacon Raid

Bane is Latinx in the comics!

I'm super excited to hear you guys talk about Pluto. Monster is one of my favorite animes, and by the same creator, but I was a bit disappointed by Pluto and I can't put my finger on exactly why. Maybe you guys will love it and help me see it in a new light, or maybe you'll have some criticisms that help me understand my own reservations about the show.

Also, if you're looking for a samurai anime I'm on the 8th and final episode of the new Netflix mini-series Blue-Eyed Samurai and it's incredible. 3D animation gets a bad rap, and I don't usually love the style, but they do a great job mixing 3D characters with 2D landscapes and textures.

Jeff Byrne

I'm a year late to this episode but just wanted Matt to know I genuinely like when he does his Bane impression. It's fun!
