child me when "the world will turn to ASH": 🤯🤯🤯

Unlistenable without the movie, I guess that’s the point huh

Back when this movie came out, my older cousin was mocking me about how much I loved Pokémon. He referred to Ash Ketchum as “Ashtray Ketchup”. I don’t know why I still remember that, or why I’m telling all of you.

Cal

I didn’t even watch the movie and this was a blast 😂 Matt’s cat meowing at the top of their lungs really added to the vibe

Nathan Maidlow

I remember when I was a kid and my grandpa took us to the Yu-Gi-Oh movie and then loudly snored through the entire film, I didn’t give a shit though I got that sweet sweet Red Eyes Black Dragon promotional card

My partner and I started watching AOT a month ago after I heard the series was finally wrapping up. We binged it all in 3 weeks and oh boy, that show went in SO many directions that I was not expecting. Absolutely loved it. To Nick's point, this is definitely a different take on the shonen protagonist. Not since Evangelion has a main male character with special abilities been so....whiny.

Sewing Savage

Takeshi Shudo, the writer for this movie and creator of Lugia, admitted that he was super drunk and taking tranquilizers while working on this movie. That plus the absurd ammount of creative control he was given after the first movie was so sucessful is probably why this movie is such a mess.

Big Daddy Mac

Bummed they missed the part where ash says "chosen one? Right now I feel more like the frozen one"

Big Chunk of the fanbase

At 7 years old I think melody was my first childhood crush but then I saw James’ jugs and cast aside childish crushes (jk but also haven’t seen this movie in maybe 20 years)

Dean Lowdon Clear

I’ve enjoyed a few of the Pokémon games over the years, but never got into the anime at all so couldn’t be bothered to watch the movie…

Doc Robot

As a teenager I was a projectionist when this came out. On opening night we had a mechanical malfunction with a sold out house, we were told to get it running no matter what and rigged the projector with sponges and duct tape to work around a broken gear. It worked but it scratched the hell out of the print giving it an old timey film filter vibe. Nobody asked for a refund and we used that print for weeks with no complaints. Not sure if there is a point but maybe it's that it didn't matter and maybe masked some of the poor cgi.

This movie was perfect when it came out and it has aged like a fine wine, only getting better than I remember it being. *looks out of corner of eye at gun Ash has to my temple* U-uh, and, um, Ash is the coolest, most bravest character to ever grace the film screen. I aspire to be just like him, even though I know it's not possible for a lowly worm like me. *in a whisper* Please, Ash. I did what you said. Can you let my family go now?

How big my eyes were as a kid when they say "and thus the Earth will turn to Ash" and I'm Leonardo DiCaproing at the theater screen, THAT'S MY BOY!! I GET IT! Also, funny story, I started watching along perfectly in time with the podcast, and over time the cast kept getting ahead...and I was so confused...then I remembered I have the "trim silence" option checked for my PocketCasts app, so it removes silence of longer than like a couple seconds...and obviously as a watch along there is a little more silence than normal, so you guys kept getting ahead. Once I figured it out what was going on 10 minutes in...I felt so dumb lol Love this format though, would enjoy more watch alongs like this!

Real gutsy move, watching a Pokémon movie, without inviting Ash. Seems like you're asking for trouble, but it's your funerals, I guess.

Mobile Suit Bagera

I saw the movie in Texas and the card they gave away was "ancient mew". ETA: They show the card in the movie which makes no fucking sense.

This movie is like a saltine slathered with delicious peanut butter: At the end of the day, it’s still just a saltine.

Jayme Cangelosi

I feel like the screenwriter had writer’s block and was playing with one of those multi-color ink pens like the one Professor Oak had, had an epiphany, then created this whole movie’s “story” around the ink colors linked to the different legendary birds. There’s no other explanation for this nonsense
