I actually like the slow pacing, because imo it adds to thriller mystery vibe. You have more time to speculate and re-evaluate the assumptions you previously had. But seriously Adolf? On another note I'm German and the secret eyes wide shut Nazi conspiracy feels little bit to close to home given current events in my country. Sorry in advance

I tend to love a slow burn story but Pluto definitely pushes it to a crawl. Personally, it didn’t really bother me because I was so wrapped up the world-building and artistry that I was happy to linger 🤷 Can totally see why folks would be frustrated or bored though 🫡

Nick asking “Do you not want to watch the rest of the show?” to Heather is basically an impression of everything I ever tried to watch with my dad 😂

Absolutely loving this series so far but for I can see how the pacing could be off-putting. It’s got prestige drama pacing and if you’re a fan of action that’s a hard adjustment. Regardless I’m really glad we’re covering this show because I probably wouldn’t have watched it otherwise!

I'm enjoying Pluto, and I'm fine with a measured pace, in storytelling, but the repetition of dialogue and redundant revelations are what drag the episodes down some. And, Adolf sure was a bold choice of character name. Sometimes, I suppose, you just need to say Fuck subtlety.

When the Chain Reactions for Pluto start, could y'all add "Plutalk" to the segment name?

Heather should not be sorry about being grumpy about this show! Normally I totally agree with her, and I like my media to be action packed and chaotic, but there is something about the slow burn repetitive nature of this show that I just find super compelling. I love how different her take is and it really emphasizes how subjective art is! Possible Spoilers for Blade Runner 2049, but the discussion of implanted memories, overall detective story and setting, and the slow pacing immediately made me think of that movie. Makes me curious if the manga may have been an inspiration for that film.

It is infinitely relatable, that you guys were a few weeks behind on viewer questions and just kept saying "next week" until it's a whole show's worth. As a life long procrastinator I have been there! I'm with Heather, I am digging the world and the characters I just wish they'd get on with it. Also my read on the last scene wasn't that the body was functioning without a brain but that Pluto's brain bailed during the tornado. Just a thought.

Each of your different opinions and tastes are what makes listening to this and the mainline podcast great. Only natural that you’ll encounter stuff that doesn’t resonate completely with another host. As someone who’s always wanted to be exposed more to anime but never really been sure where to start it’s been nice to have this show run though a variety of different shit. Really enjoyed Pluto but its painstaking pacing is the main reason I’d be hesitant to heartily recommend it to people I know. Totally understand Heather’s pov.

Totally respect everyone's thoughts on Pluto so far but IMO this show SLAPS. I find the pacing, mystery and world all very engrossing. Probably the best new show I've watched through Get Anime'd

Nick went back in time to yell at a Star wars Phantom Menace crowd.

IMO the best “in” for Nick with One Piece is just to start reading the manga. The pacing is a bit better with no filler. I think he could move through the story a bit quicker and be less of a completionist with the anime, which is what I’ve been doing for the past year and it’s worked out really well!

Does anyone else immediately say “Glaaaam” in their head when Epsilon appears?
