Hello Actual Patrons!

I wanted to reach out about something that's been on my mind since starting the Patreon - your satisfaction.

Since launching the Patreon, 17 backers have cancelled their pledge and many have decreased their pledge amount. I completely understand if people no longer feel like they can afford it - that is a natural part of this. The fear in my head is that some people are cancelling because they aren't happy with the videos.

I would like to have made another character video by now. Essen and various other things have got in the way. If anyone ever thinks that I've gone quiet or haven't posted anything in a while, I promise you I am working to fix it.

To look forward, I have filmed a review of Kitchen Rush which I will be posting early next week. I have the script ready for a Top 10 starring my new J-Lol character which was a little over-ambitious and has taken longer than expected, but is coming. And I've started thinking about a Christmas video.

I've not asked for feedback about the Patreon because I'm still working it out myself, and as the VLOG poll showed it's hard to cater to everyone! But if you're aren't happy with the channel and are considering cancelling your pledge, please message me with your concerns.

I don't want to bombard people with email notifications by making Patreon posts all the time, but I also don't want people to feel I've gone quiet. I hope I'm striking a happy medium.

Actually Yours,

Jon

I've loved the videos you've been putting out. yes I want more character videos, but also understand how labor intensive they must be. Keep doing what you do.

I had always intended to reduce my pledge, starting high to help you get your feet. I have other patreons I would like to pledge to as well. I enjoy your videos where you talk candidly about games you've played.

Roland Blais

Quick note - I had to reduce my pledge (for all patreons) because of financial reasons, not because of content. Keep up the splendid work!

Even though my focus as a gamer has changed (for reasons personal and other) I'm continuing to back because I enjoy the content. I figure it probably takes many hours to put together a 10 minute character video. :)

Hey Jon! No worries! You're doing great! I completely understand the work going into this. I'd be doing this myself if I had the time and talent to do so. I also understand these are busy times, especially with Essen and all. I will continue backing you as I love your vids and my kids love the character video's as well! Love the humor and your ideas for these, spot on! But also your reviews and vlogs are very entertaining and give gamers a good idea of what to expect from a game. I consider you to be on par with others I support: Rahdo, Shut up, No Pun, even Watch it played, even though Rodney doesn't actually review games but his 'how to play's' are the best! So, again, you are doing a great job! Keep it coming! wish I had guys like you and the others mentioned above in my gaming group, that would be fantastic!!

I must be honest and say that there's a chance I will cancel or reduce plege in future, as it's coming out at the wrong time of the month and fact I can't move it is somewhat irksome. If I continuously don't have money to support the pledge on time, it will have to be reconsidered.

Maria LoCastro

Any creator will tell you patron attrition is something that will happen, and it's not uncommon to have a surge of support at the beginning with a drop off after the first month and a slow trickle away over time. Personally, when I pledge to a creator I am planning to stick around for awhile, and when I drop the pledge it is usually because I have stopped watching the content altogether. This has only happened twice, once with a MTG 'tuber when I decided MTG wasn't for me, and once with a guild wars 'tuber when I quit guild wars 2. Don't plan on giving up games anytime soon, so this one's not going anywhere. It is good that you are seeking feedback and engaging with your audience but I wouldn't worry too much about the lost pledges unless there's a mass exodus. :P

You're doing great, Jon. Good work takes time. Take your time and output a quality product that you can look back on and be proud of today and tomorrow. - Your Unwavering Patreon Supporter.

Your videos are great. Keep doing what you're doing.

You are definitely doing a good job Jon - some of your videos have also been a longer format. Looking forward to the Kitchen Rush review, and would love to see some of your older style compilation videos, if you have a good idea around that.

I watch your videos because I find them informative and entertaining. The only thing I don't like is the characters that swear (Barry and Frank Justice), especially in earshot of little Timmy (he's already damaged enough, bless him). Just because my 9yr old likes to watch them too. Keep up the great work!

Actualol

I'm really sorry that's an issue, I wish I could change the Patreon system to allow for that but it's a problem across all Patreons. Thanks for being honest about it.

Actualol

No mass exodus until I go crazy and tell everyone to burn their board games and that video games are better :D

No worries. You and Inside the Box are my favourite gaming channels (even if we don't always see eye to eye on games) and I'd love to support you, if I'm able. We'll see how the next few months pan out. Good luck!

I haven't reduced my pledge yet but have thought about it. Not because I don't or no longer like your videos (character vids are much preferred, but I like the others as well), but for the same reason Nick gave above. I wanted to help you get on your feet and hopefully garner more patrons over time, then reduce my pledge a bit. 5$ isn't that much, of course, but it can add up if you want support different creators.
