J-LOL is back for Pimp Yo Game, and he's not happy. I talk about why I'm a card sleeving addict, and share the things I've learnt along the way.

And there's a little appearance from everyone's favourite creepy art teacher.

I'm someone who sleeves everything too! Regarding Ultra Pro: maybe there were enough complaints but the hologram is a lot less obnoxious now, I'll send you a picture on Twitter later on to show the difference. It's MUCH better now. Another advantage of sleeved cards: they don't move on acrylic sheets! I use acrylic sheets on my paper map wargames and even mounted GMT boards (because it takes a long time to flatten them properly) and the cards won't slip around everywhere, it's great!

Excellent, Jon! I too have reined back on the sleeving. These days I only do games that are expensive or fairly niche (ie likely to soon be out of print and difficult to replace). And of course I sleeve all my X-Wing pilots and upgrade cards, as they represent a substantial investment. Personally I really like the FFG sleeves, they ooze quality. Not heard of Paladin, will have to try them...

We've recently taken up sleeving at my house. Until now we had two approaches: 1.) own so many games we never played one to the point it messed with the cards, 2.) play a game for a few plays, gift it, buy another copy. I did this with 5 copies of Fuse and multiple copies of Hanabi (Target unloaded them locally at like $2.50, so I bought half a dozen) until I finally sleeved the last one. That second option is actually a nice way to do it - you'd think people might think "really, used game?" but if you go into detail about why you are giving it to them....they generally appreciate it. I like to tell them it's "preshuffled".

Hilarious! I was LOL when you did the poem!
