Do think think games are getting better every year? There's a certain part of the community that point out improvements in game design, art work, component quality, etc, and hence believe games "objectively" become better. Where do you stand?

Dan

I really treasure games that facilitate "table talk" within my group. And while negotiation games like Chinatown or improv games like Snake Oil definitely fit the bill, I find that games that allow table talk to emerge naturally are consistently great experiences for everyone around the table. Modern Art is probably my favorite example of this – a simple auction game that inevitably transforms you into equal parts art critic and car salesman on each of your turns. Do you have any favorite games where the session is really elevated by what happens outside the confines of the rules?

Benjamin Nickolls

how much money would it take to get you to try Warhammer 40k?

Kevin Nguyen

What is your favorite game that you got rid of?

Great that you are on BGA! What times of day do you play (I'm in California)? And how come Caracssonne is not on your list of games for BGA? Am I the only one who still loves that classic? Especially with the 3-tiles-in-hand variant.

Actualol

Not sure what sort of answer you're after with this one! Can you elaborate on the question?

Actualol

I play turn-based games so the times of day don't matter! Just take your turn whenever you can. I do like Carcassonne a lot in real life but I play BGA on my phone, and it is quite hard to play on there because the board becomes so big.

Real question: do you still eat pizza with your bare hands whilst playing board games and if yes when will you stop being a monster?

michael

Do you leave water in the kettle after making tea, and then use that water when making tea the next time? Or, do you dump out any excess water and let it dry out each time? What's the proper protocol?

Peter Haslehurst

You always look so well-dressed Jon, just wondered if you buy for yourself, or perhaps you hire a personal shopper, or perhaps Serena buys for you? If it's you, where do you shop for clothes? Oxford Street? Carnaby Street? Camden Market? Also, what about the costumes and props for your character sketches, were they found at the back of your wardrobe, or did you have to source them specially?

Julia Nolte

I would like to know how to best learn about different game types or terms. I see terms like "hidden movement", "heavy Euro", "worker placement", "dungeon crawler" etc. come up on board game review sites and in YouTube videos (cherry-picking the ones I DO know and get but there are many others out there). I am only familiar with some of these terms and wonder if you have a recommendation on how to be on top of the lingo - is there a website, book, or YouTuber you can recommend? Or maybe you want to do your own video covering the various terms ;)

Actualol

No, edit it back! That was just some old footage when Serena was my "girlfriend", but she is now my wife! If you edit it back I can screengrab it for the video 😁

Actualol

Are they any you can think of which you don't understand that I can explain in the Q&A?

Julia Nolte

I had to consult the Paula Deeming video in which she name-drops a ton of game mechanism terms but how about "pick-up and deliver" or "print and play" (I assume the name are telling... but still!)
