Sorry for the double post - this poll will allow multiple choices

As part of my Top 50 Games of All Time video series, I'll be running this year's Patron pledge drive to encourage viewers to become patrons.

And to help me understand what makes people choose to become a patron - I wanted to ask you: What are the reasons that you became a patron of Actualol?

Was it simply to support the channel? Or was it one of the perks like the newsletter or lanyards that made it more appealing?

IMPORTANT - Please tick ALL the reasons that were important to you in making the decision.

If you reason isn't listed, please share in the comments.

Thank you so much for your help, and your support,

Jon

I didn't become a Patreon to get my name in the videos ... but I'm not saying that it had nothing to do with me increasing my pledge amount.

Daniel Kleschewski

Out of the four reasons I ticked, probably the most important to me was the consideration of new viewers. I wanted others to have the same benefit from your channel as I had and to get them to know all these great board games.

Dave Bennett

I made a conscious decision to support the people I most enjoy watching because I know I’d miss them if they went away. It might be a coincidence that they are also the ones with little to no ads or sponsors, but I genuinely don’t know.

Miranda Prince

I mean, it would be cool to be mentioned in the credits, but really, I just wanted to say thanks for the great content.

Aviv

I hardly play any board games these days, but I like the videos simply as enjoyable, funny media, and I like you simply as a human being.

Andrew McGill

I really enjoy the videos you produce and think you always bring an insightful and balanced conclusion when covering games. Some other reviews and creators really gush over some games and I’ve found that this has sometimes led me to having FOMO and I end up buying a game that maybe wasn’t really right for me but I got caught up in the hype. When I watch your reviews I get a very clear view of how you feel about it and after watching your content for a while now I see our tastes align really closely. I appreciate your style of humour also!

Daniel Kleschewski

And you have a remarkable talent to communicate the feel of a game, which I think shows your empathy, and your ability to approach people new to the scene. It makes it an easy choice to send your videos to newbies, also, they are very visually appealing.

Janet Morris

I came upon your video describing the way games have changed. Growing up in the Monopoly/Life era I had a visceral aversion to games. Your channel exposed me to other options and encouraged me to try new things. My husband and I are approaching retirement and are actively searching out activities that we can participate in apart or together. I have to give a shout out to Wil Wheaton's old channel that showed play-throughs, since I have a hard time digesting rule books. We started with Forbidden Island, graduated to Pandemic, and now we are evangelists for the hobby. We laughed at your video about NOT overwhelming people (Catan! That's the party line!). Inviting new couples to have a game night is intimidating (50 etiquette rules - have snacks!) but I will keep trying till we find friends who enjoy an evening of more than, you know, TALKING. Joining Patreon was my way of thanking you for opening up a whole new world and guiding my baby steps.

Matias Gagliardone

I did it because I wanted to get the next top 50 video, sadly it wasn't enough.

Philippo

I was curious about your opinions on games you play (you've played) but don't mention on the channel (possibly because you didn't like them or didn't find them mention worthy enough for a video)

Cindy Kempf

You have the most creative videos that I’ve seen, they really stand out. I love it when you dress up as the family.

Ben Broomfield

I like your ‘one-off’ videos, like the musical numbers, and the sketches. It’s very different to anything else out there. It’s a nice balance to your great reviews, and adds variety to the channel.

Ceedee Doyle

to get a character in the funny videos :)

Fiction on the Web and Charlie Fish

I especially enjoyed your old character videos - I love a bit of board game humour - and was blown away by your music video. You've always been helpful in real life too!

Actualol

It was a perk on the patreon a few years ago.

There's a new Top 50 series coming soon!

Actualol

Thanks for sharing, Janet! Glad I could help with the baby steps 🙂

Matias Gagliardone

Oh yes! Just in time so I can have new ideas for my birthday.

Ken Hawkins

Other reason: I wanted access to your Top 100-51 Board Games videos because I value your opinion and enjoy your presentation style.

Janet Morris

I wasn't quite sure where to place this suggestion. As a newbie to board games I am intimidated and frustrated as reviewers and gamers used terms that I was unfamiliar with: deck building, engine building, roll and write, negotiation, worker placement, etc. What's an Ithulu? See, don't even know if I'm spelling that right. It makes it hard for me to understand the type of game I'm considering. You can intuit some of these terms but I'd love a video defining these terms with examples. Thx. And congratulations on your little girl! Happy, happy day.

Actualol

Thanks Janet - I'd love to make a video like that, it's definitely on my to-do list.

Janet Morris

And what the heck is a legacy game??? It's all a secret spy language to keep the newbies out! Seriously, I understand that categories like this will EVENTUALLY make my understanding better, but right now it feels like ancient Sumerian.

Ro Ramdin

I just love your stuff and want to support you! I'm a youtube creator too and I have no problem with you taking sponsorships or taking time between videos, I just want to keep my fav board game reviewer on the map :-)

Natasha Daly

I have enjoyed watching your video’s for some time and it doesn’t hurt that I really enjoy your humour. Mostly, I like that your recommendations are unique and not based on the hype of other reviewer. Plus my 9 year old hears your voice and comes running (usually punching the air saying “Yes, Actualol!”). We love watching your content together and he loves your skits.
