Is there anything more emblematic of character art than making a really abstract moodpiece of a new OC before you even have a character sheet or basic references done

really wanted to do something that was, at least partially, very painterly for a number of reasons. mostly that my hands have been screaming at me. easier on my hands to use a blending brush and do this than paint the way i usually do which is something im trying not to get too doom-and-gloom about
