Lena and I made a theme for Cocoon, a frontend for Android-based emulation devices (like the AYN Thor). It's pretty full featured it has icon overlays and smart folders for most major platforms. If you're a Thor/Cocoon user, you can grab it here!

I had a mixture of inspirations for this, mostly stuff like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, and idk various other points of reference that come from that decade of media. Stuff that really tried to show you what "going into the computer" was like before we had a more tangible (and often dumb) idea of what that's actually like.

I made the assets individually in Photoshop and then did a lot of mixing and matching with compositing effects in Resolve and Mosh. The result is something I really love and looks crazy cool running on the device itself. It really does turn it into, like, a future computer-looking thing it's rad.
