Direction for Records (Patreon)

Hey guys, I've been thinking and brainstorming out some ideas for Records (The Callan Stone story) and I've decided to change the upcoming world from Highschool of the Dead to RWBY. I felt like the only reason I was having Callan go to HotD was because I was going off of the original story that inspired me to write this, and to get Saeko on his team. It felt off to go to a world for those reasons, and not to stay in line with what "I" would do, which was the point of the story.

So I edited the last two chapters of Records, the Library ones for Vol. 2, and made it so it led him to choose RWBY. More so on the last bit of the most recent chapter. Feel free to check them out, but it's basically him just saying "I don't really know anything about these worlds, so what else can work? Monsters. What world is overrun with monsters?"

It feels right for Callan to go to RWBY, so now I'm feeling inspired to write more of this fic. However, I'm aware that most of my audience is here for the ITW,H story. That will be my main focus until it's done. Meaning any updates to Records, and WRIN, will have to be on the side if I manage to write a lot one week.

My goal: Get caught up on my HP story, and start building up a backlog of chapters for it so I can then feel comfortable to dedicate some time to write for my other stories. Basically, it all comes down to "Write a crap ton more."

That's what I'm learning about trying to be an author, it all comes down to "Write more!" Want to learn how to write a book? Write. Want to learn how to be better at dialogue? Write. Want to learn how to "show, not tell?" Write.

I've also been thinking about Callan's bending powers. I want him to be able to eventually switch between elements. Then I want him to be able to do the high level technique of splitting his chi into yin and yang, then bringing it back together. For Firebending, this gives us Lightningbending. Here's my take on what the other elements can give us:

Fire => Lightning. This one's set in stone because it's the canon.

Earth => Magnetism (I was thinking something to go along with metalbending, but I'm not too sure on this. It could also be gravity, or it could be something else. What do you all think?)

Air => Light (I was thinking Auroras. But anything that could have anything to do with "freedom", or being highly mobile, would work.)

Water => Gravity (based on the push and pull of the moon. However, anything has to do with "Change" or redirection, or ebb and flow, could work.)

Feel free to comment some ideas. However, it has to be something he cannot already do with the base bending.
