In regards to the Netflix & Disney streaming news, I thought I'd give my 2 cents worth. As a former cable executive, I remember having discussions with my employees as well as some customers on why a la carte pricing would never work in the cable TV industry. I felt it was one of those "be careful what you wish for" scenarios. I tried to explain that if, for example, ESPN decided to go that route, the cost (at the time was around $5 per sub for us) would have to be in the neighborhood of $15 to $20 for the channel for ESPN to ensure their bottom line didn't take a hit. As you know, a la carte never took off. However, fast forward to where we are today and it's definitely making a comeback, except this time in streaming. I explain this on EP78 of my podcast (<a href="http://podcast.donovanshow.com/78?t=1336)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://podcast.donovanshow.com/78?t=1336)</a> if you're interested in hearing my take on it (if the timestamp doesn't work, it's around 22 minutes). I, like you, am a grumpy old geek at the ripe old age of 47. Not trying to pimp out my show here, just thought I could add to the conversation since I was in that industry for 10 years. Great shows, keep up the hard work!
