Former Apple employee 👋🏻 The internal tool is basically a toothbrush that, to my recollection, has bristles that are static dissipative (they take it super seriously because iPhone internals are *extremely* sensitive to ESD). You can likely use a natural fiber toothbrush just fine. If you Google “ESD safe toothbrush” though you can find them online for the same cost as a regular toothbrush, which is probably the best option. Just never use a nail (I’ve been present for an iPhone battery fire due to someone doing that once and the fumes seriously mess you up for a long time).
