Music Software & Interface Design: Avid’s Sibelius

In this video, I take a detailed look at the design of Avid's Sibelius - a popular music notation application. Sibelius is the embodiment of what not to do as a user experience designer and this video covers a range of examples of inappropriate design patterns and bad user interface choices. Then I go insane. Hey Martin. Watched this again (as I've finished editing one thing and now dread taking on another due by December 10th. Sigh.). Even better the second time. Anyway, wanted to ask. What futility do you use to record the screen captures, with all of the moving, panning, zooming, etc.?

I use Quicktime to do a screencapture (with no zooming), then I animate the zooms in Premier (or in some cases After Effects) manually.

Become a patreon, Sibelius crashed. I've got this phrasing stuck in my head for days now…
