LETS GOOOOOO

Amy Walsh

Omg I've been looking forward to this all day! Thanks so much!

This anime will be something to be remembered. The last ~2 episodes took an additional 3 months of production, but man will it be worth it.

With the red stripe in her hair and black uniform, Lena is representing all 5 colors of the San Magnolia flag, doubling down on her resolve to follow those ideals. I love the steady crumbling of the fountain since season 1, the cracks and litter building up to mirror San Magnolia slowly losing the war against the Legion. Cyclops got her callsign from having two different colored eyes. The scene with Shin and his brother was symbolic but also real, he carried Shin and the rest to the Giad border where they were picked up. His destroyed mech is shown right after Shin wakes up when Ernst is walking down the hallway with his advisors.

They are alive! Time for Part 2 to begin. Imo, it far exceeds Part 1!

5:20 Lena's building up her own Wave of Young Dreamers amongst the Handlers! Spark that change! :)

To vaguely clarify how everything is positioned geographically: imagine a Venn diagram with the exception that the middle part covers a larger area than usual. Now, the left circle is San Magnolia [west], the middle part is Legion territory and the right circle is the Federacy [east]. So essentially our ex-Spearhead guys went all the way from the west (Eastern Front of San Magnolia), traversed most of the Legion territory that is between the current borders of San Magnolia and the Federacy, got VERY close to the east (Western Front of the Federacy) but before they reached the front they got attacked. Maybe a Venn diagram isn't the best way to explain it but I wanted to be as vague as possible... Just take it as a concept and not too literally 🙈 Nevertheless, I hope this helped somehow ^^

Second OP of 86 was the best of 2021 in my opinion. Lena is now a Captain, one rank lower than before that was Major. As a Major she reports to General Karlstaff, but now as a Captain she report to this Lt. Coronel. Frederica is a hell of a character. At first is a little anoying but later is great. Her VA is the same of Faputa from "Made in Abyss".

It's not really touched on in the show but Teppy (or TP) is short for Thermopylae! It's a place in Greece where a great battle was fought and Lena named him that to commemorate our ex-Spearhead squad.

I Love Frederica's voice actor! not to mention Bloody Regina's new look as well.... now her fit has all the colors of San Mag's Flag, a true patriot trying to uphold proudly, what it stood for....

Hello guys! I am so happy you guys finally reach cour 2! Watching you guys fall in love with this show truly makes my day. I want to expand a little bit about the Rei segment because Ben actually had a good grasp of what happened. In the light novels they make this part more explicitly in comparison to the anime. In the light novels, there a few mentions of Rei ( as a Dinosauria) dragging itself in the old empire’s territory, and he’s conflicted because his memories and his legion conscious is crashing together. If I remember correctly, Shin senses a Dinosauria following them but didn’t tell anyone about it because it seemed harmless. Shin also mentions his voice is familiar but can’t identify it is Rei since the voice is distorted. During the last battle (where Shin goes rogue and leaves his comrades behind), a Dinosauria (Rei) is there and tries to help him. Fast forward, when the Giad’s soldiers found them, they were all inside in a Dinosauria (implying that Rei protected them until someone could get to them). This is an excerpt of Rei’s thoughts from Volume 2: “Rei’s gradually fading thought processes filled with relief as he watched Shin and his friends approach the Federacy. If they kept going, they would be within the Federacy military’s patrol lines soon. The Legion focused all their forces on battling the Federacy near the patrol lines. A single, small mobile weapon should be able to avoid detection so long as it used the terrain to hide itself. Rei wasn’t sure whether he would expire before seeing them arrive at civilization but… Well, they should be fine. He could pass on peacefully— Nnn! A string of information from nearby friendly units had arrived via his barely functioning data link. And as he perceived the contents of that message, anxiety flared through Rei’s nervous network. Oh no…! ” I hope this helps clarify that part in the anime. There were a few parts omitted from Rei’s last moments.

I'm glad you two brought up the contrast in philosophies between Jerome and Ernst. Jerome's whole speech was about how right and wrong is based on the good of the nation, and therefore whatever benefits San Magnolia is right, even if it means wiping out the 86. Ernst has the completely opposite viewpoint, which is that there is objective morality, and any nation that doesn't hold to that is better off gone. I immediately found him an interesting character because even though he's the provisional president, his view is "I know what's right, and I don't care if the nation wants otherwise lol"

San Magnolia lost contact with other nations just like Giad. In the history lesson in one of the early episodes it was assumed that Giad was destroyed by the Legion, but it's nothing but an assumption - San Magnolia's leadership is likely planning for the possibility that this is not the case when they decided to wipe out the 86. After all, if they're surviving, why wouldn't other countries?
