This season aired from summer 2023 to fall 2024 but S2 was alreasy announced so I would expect next year... It is CRAZY this and Frieren aired back to back one day apart from eachother

Cinema. Pure cinema. Some fans are talkin about Grandma become the villian of the story for hide Lakan about Fengxian. But I think Fengxian take the descision and makes Grandma not to tell Lakan. Grandma only do what Fengxian wants. About the full series, it's one the best I've ever saw. Maomao is such a genius character. The dialog is awesome. Anna was having a lot of fun with this finale. Love it.

So, basically, Lakan was the only one who did nothing wrong, and Old Lady, Fengxian, and even Maomao had been tricking him for 16 years. Also, Maomao hates him for absolutely no valid reason.

I think you're taking it wrong. Maomao explicitly says the line "I don't hate him". It's more so that she just feels no emotion for him as he's never been in her life. As for why she never wants to talk to him, I think it probably has to do with everything that happened to her as a baby. She might not hate him because she knows it's not his fault yet still feel an urge not be with him because her subconscious feels like he hurt her.

@Arakis You're arguing word choice...the difference is that she doesn't have to BLAME him for what happened for her not to want to be around him. She's traumatized. He reminds her of those negative events and that's enough.

@Arakis Maomao just doesn't like Lakan because as a kid, she thought of Luomen as her dad and then a stranger to her claimed to be her dad and wanted to take her away. I'm sure she was later told stories about how he abandoned her mom but since Maomao doesn't really have an emotional attachment to her, she doesn't really have a hatred for him. She just dislikes the idea of being with him. The face she made when Jinshi revealed Lakan's name to Maomao was because of the confirmation that it was him, which she suspected, not because she hates him. Maomao is in the neurodivergent spectrum and is incapable of loving or hating someone.
