Being an EVA pilot is suffering.

The First Impact is so much more interesting than the Tunguska Event that wiped out the dinosaurs. I think you already noticed that a lot of the story in NGE is rooted in symbolism, religion and conspiracy theories. So put your tinfoil hat on, assume the lotus position and say a prayer, because it's going to be a wild ride.

Oooooor you can let them run wild and think what they want to think

Balurion

Yeah it would be much more fun seeing where their thought process leads.

Sergio Meira

Personally, I think it's OK to speculate. In a death-of-the-author world, the fact Anno just found Christian imagery cool doesn't prevent the viewer from finding their own (unintended) interpretations for it. I say let imagination run wild!

The first time I watched attack on titan I immediately knew whoever made it was as much of an evangelion nerd as me.... Story, style, even exact shots that are clearly references... It's crazy how deep it goes

Since you're using the [McBalls] release for the show (great choice lol) I'd recommend using the Dekinai subtitle track it comes with rather than the Sephirotic subs it defaults to. The translations are basically the exact same, however the Dekinai subs have better typesetting. i.e. translations for text on screen will actually be on screen with effort made to match it to the original text instead of generic white text across the top of the screen. The subtitles will occasionally change locations when it makes sense to do so, like in conversations within the Evas or during comedic moments, and sentences are broken up a little more naturally instead of the whole sentence being dumped on screen at once etc etc. It's all mostly minor changes in the end but y'all would probably enjoy them and if you have the release (thank you mcballs) might as well take advantage of all it offers. Subtitles can be changed in the top left corner of the media player fairly easily if you didn't know already. Anyway, glad to see y'all already enjoy the show so much already and are aboard for the ride. The line-up on the channel right now is full of bangers and I look forward to seeing you react to all of it!

Milosz Skowronski

I second that motion. Dekinai subs are superior.

I'd definitely recommend watching the Director's Cut of the last few episodes, and then the movie "End of EVA". The Rebuild movies, of which there are three, are less important, but bring a real finality to the series. It's not necessarily to watch them right away, but I think you'd really enjoy them. Speaking of, I knew you guys would love this how. It's unique to this day, and the single best show-case of depression I've ever seen in a show (not just anime.) And boy, does it get better and better. Shinji's scream in this episode sent shivers down by spine. It's so desperate. Hell of a voice-actor. That said, there's a ton of famous voice-actors in this show, and they all do a fantastic job.

i think you mean the Chicxulub event. tunguska was a airburst over the russian wildernerss like 100 years or so ago.

The lyrics to A Cruel Angel’s Thesis is an unofficial requirement on the Japanese citizenship test. Being able to sing it at full volume while drunk at a snack bar at 11pm is necessary for living in Japan.
