I know Ben and Anna don't really read comments, but worth putting out there that her discussion about the victimhood and praise is incredibly relevant and such an insightful piece of commentary. I can't wait to hear more of her thoughts as the arc comes more into focus.

Eh, putting Kizu between Bake and Nise is a more important change than squeezing Hana into the middle of Season 2. Sure it's not the light novel order but it's not that big a deal.

Yeah its a horse a piece as far as the Koi stuff goes. In Hana first you get primed with "Anything/everything could be a lie" during Koi vs Hana last you get the niku niku surprise reveal. Niku.

Hi guys! Ben here talking through a mod! After our break we had no safe way to interact with comments without risk of spoilers, thankfully we have finally begun to resolve this. We only have 1 trusted mod currently as we are taking extra precautions with us being hacked not too long ago. In regard to our watch order of Monogatari, it seems like we might have watched things out of order. I believe we have been consistent in the watch order that won our poll (Crunchyroll's Watch order, I will put the link to that at the end of this comment so that you guys can help us understand where we might have gone wrong.) The main problem is that Hanamonogatari was released after second season when in the novels it is between Kabukimonogatari and Otorimonogatari.

The order you're watching right now is the way most people have experienced Monogatari it's completely fine and I personally even think it's the better order for second season

Many people were hoping to have the Light Novel watch order. But considering most people voted for the CR watch order you guys are doing fine. it's just that Hanamonogatari got split off from Second season while in production and then released after. Based off the novels these last episodes would be watched after watching Hanamonogatari, but the swapping of the order of these two arcs is nothing major. Either one can be watched first or second. Without issue really.

It really isn't that big of a deal either way. I watched it in this order my first time and it was fine, some could argue it's better in some ways.

In the voting some people voted for the Crunchyroll order because they thought it was the same as the Light Novel order (since the post quoted only the first seasons and both orders matched). There are certain reasons why it's better to watch Hanamonigatari before Otorimonogatari (Nadeko Medusa) but it's not necessary, but it MUST be watched before Koimonogatari (last arc of "Secons Season"). My recommendation would be to finish Nadeko Medusa, then watch Hanamonigatari and finish with the rest of Second Season. You could also start Hanamonigatari next week and then pick up Otorimonogatari but that would be awkward for everyone I guess haha (although I wouldn't be opposed).

Amazing discussion. It was a pleasure to hear Anna talk about the pros and cons of victimhood, especially her epiphany of how easy it is to let it bleed into your entire life and prohibit self growth. I'm sure many of us at one point or another have sabotaged ourselves into a lifestyle that is akin to, 'If I don't try/I can't try because of x, then I can't fail.' Fear of failure and fear of having your flaws so clearly exposed is a powerful emotion, especially at a young age. I can't wait to hear more of your thoughts on this topic as you progress further into the story as it's extremely relevant in both this arc and even future ones like Koi. <3

A big showing of order babies as always. Hana after Koi babies thinking that what matters in Nisio's writing is plot twists and surprises. Hana before Koi babies thinking that you can't relate themes of arcs to each other if you watch the arcs out of sequence. And yes, I know about that one redditor list. The guy who stupidly assumed a lot of things he shouldn't have and it "negatively impacted his viewing." Absolute disaster. The order does not matter. Stop whining about it.

This isn't out of order based on what they polled when starting the show. This is also the anime release order (minus the movie) which, as "unintended" as it may be, was how a majority of the fandom was introduced to the show and it has this cult-like fanbase now... Somehow, I think they'll be okay.

Realistically, if there was such an outcry for the order to be different than what you're doing right now, there would have been more of a push for it when the actual poll was being conducted. There were plenty of comments mentioning that the listed order was not novel order and "warning" people about it as if everyone was blind or dumb. You guys posted the link to the order you intended in the poll, anyone that is stating that this was the false order or people voted under false pre-tenses either doesn't actually care that much, or are playing the victim to garner sympathy for their loss. No need for apology, don't the fandom's squabbles get in the way of your enjoyment of the show. Your reactions have been great and the best is still to come, I can't wait for it.
