apologies if there is *noise* in the background of this video! We recorded this during a hailstorm and it was quite loud outside! ^.^

Minor correction: Denji brought the envelope full of money in preparation for running away with Reze, not to buy the bouquet of flowers. Also I don't think you guys caught it but the song playing while Denji was standing on the car was ED 3 (the third outro) from season 1! Great discussion as always. I find this arc's writing to be masterful in its subtlety, and I didn't fully understand the motivations and feelings of its characters for a while, particularly Reze who came off as a complete enigma to me when I read this arc in the manga (I stopped reading a while ago though). It's amazing how much of that subtlety you guys picked up on after one watch. Few things from me: I would've liked to hear more on the underlying motif of the city/country mouse, as that's quite central to the Denji-Reze relationship. Also I don't particularly want to see Reze alive after the Makima encounter; definitely a great character that will be missed, but I think it takes away from the movie being a romantic tragedy at its core. Excited for more Chainsaw Man!

"Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc" had amazing visuals, but I think the music for the memorable pool scene is one of the best animation soundtracks in recent years, alongside the nighttime rooftop ballet scene in Acrobatic Silky from "Dandadan" 1x7. In fact, the same composer (Kensuke Ushio) composed the music for both scenes, who also composed the infamous "A Silent Voice." By the way, CSM Reze Arc movie is still being screened in Japan, and for the many fans who are suffering from Reze-loss, original author Tatsuki Fujimoto has drawn an "illustration of Denji and Reze" and is distributing it to moviegoers. P.S. The battle scenes in CSM Reze Arc" and "Jujutsu Kaisen" 3x4 were both produced by MAPPA, and they were so amazing that I don't think we'll see anything of this quality for a while. Of course, if you're looking for non-PvP battle scenes, I recommend the "Rebuild Evangelion" movies.

Loved your discussion ! Ana repressing her urge to immediately gush out about Aki and Angel was funny and I'm like Ben, I don't want Reze to be dead :') A thing I like about Reze's story is she completely gets taken in her own game hanging out with Denji due to how much she unconsciously wants to enjoy a normal teenager life. When she's chased by that serial killer in the school she's clearly dissociated from her Bomb devil personnality, she's running away with fear, clumsiness, she's screaming when he goes for the knife attack. Almost like a normal girl. And then the situation itself forces her to get back to her military conditionment. The song she's singing during that is also about wanting some regular life moments, she's coping hard. That shot with the plane and the water drop falling in her eye indeed hints at her being the bomb devil but also symbolizes the bomb that got dropped on her with that event, realising she needs to make a decision quick about her dilemma on Denji, which she does in the next scene at the festival. We get another plane shot (way higher in the sky and in a blue sky) when they're on the beach, and it's Reze again who's looking at it, symbolizing the possibility of running away as a third option being so far away, yet kinda dreamy. Love that movie and your reaction to it, i'm just sad I couldn't watch your S1 reaction.
