I think it still counts as Season 1, just the second half of the season. TV anime seems to really like doing that these days.

It’s true, anime does do that often, and both parts were worked on together 100% and even likely meant to just be one season. However all official advertising and branding call it season 2, and the next season already announced is being officially referred to as season 3. So even though I agree it likely was originally meant to be season 1 cour 1 and 2, officially it is branded as season 2.
