Hello Humans,

My new album ARCHIVE came out yesterday.

To mark that, I’m sharing something exclusively here on Patreon: a documentary about it's creation.

The documentary focuses on how the record was built: the instrumentation, production choices, the writing process, and how all of those elements shaped the final sound.

As you'll see, writing with Third Bloom is a completely different process to all my other projects, so I'm excited for you to see behind the scenes on this one.

The album itself reflects the feeling of the world as it is right now. Dystopian, fractured, and seemingly heading towards collapse, but not without calm or hope.

The idea behind ARCHIVE is that the world has already ended, and this music exists as something left behind, echoes of what was.

The documentary was made my myself and Matas (my rather excellent videographer), I hope you enjoy it and it gives you some context behind the album.

Thank you for supporting me, and making this record a reality! I'm thrilled to have a little bit more music in the world.

As always, I welcome your comments and feedback, and I'll see you next month with some more brand new music.

Love,

Mishkin

PS - As it's a collaboration release I am unable to give it away on Patreon, but don't forget that you can use your patreon discount code: patreon26 to get 25% off the Birdeatsbaby and Mishkin Fitzgerald Bandcamp shops.

ARCHIVE - The Making Of Documentary

The story behind the music. In this short documentary we explore the album ARCHIVE in all it's emotional themes, instrumentation and production. I introduce the band members and talk about our process. Thank you to all my patrons for making this possible.

I meant to wait until Bandcamp Friday, but hit the button yesterday without thinking as it was payday. Great album.

ahhh thank you so much Chris, so kind of you. Hope you enjoy the music. I'm very proud of this one xxx

Couldn't find the code entry box, so I was forced to pay full whack. *Forced*, I say. It's very good, and I have zero regrets 🙂 (Parenthetically, my local friend James Waudby's third album, “The Last Days Of Mirror Life”, is also post-apocalyptic; “Each song is delivered from the perspective of a different individual reflecting on their life before environmental collapse and describing how they now survive in a more primitive reality. Interspersed between vocal tracks are instrumental musings that evoke memories of places no longer habitable. This blend of narrative and instrumental pieces creates an insular, foreboding atmosphere rooted in the fading and forgotten northern county..”

oh! sorry about that, I sometimes wish bandcamp would update... it feels like the oldest website on the internet lol. Thank you though!! I'm off to listen to your friend's album now... love a good dystopian theme! x

He's an amazing fingerstyle guitarist, and really does evoke the soul of these flatlands of Holderness that are home for me. I'll see *you* in the spacious vistas of the Fulford Arms in a fortnight 🧡

Chris

ooh, love me some BTS, loving the album, will be purchasing on Friday

Chris Martin

Loving the album and was pleased to see an explanation of your wonky piano waltz in the documentary :-) I don't think I'm ever going to get to grips fully with music theory, but I still have notes from the excellent online song writing course you did a couple of years ago :-)

Mishkin Fitzgerald

Thanks so much Chris!! I love to see the process too and will be making a lot more documentary style videos so glad you enjoyed it. x

I was thinking about doing another course - I've been refining my songwriting teachings and making it a lot easier to understand and harness... I'll let you know if I do and if you ever need help with theory just holler! xx
