Greetings wonderful humans,

Here we are again, another month gone, and into August we go....

These past few has been incredibly productive, yet undeniably exhausting.

I'm tired in my bones.

I feel like I'm running on about 2% battery, but this weekend is going to be for recharging.

This afternoon I'll go and sit by a lake with Garry and his daughter, Elise. We found a special spot when collecting branches for a video shoot and it's beautiful...

Lots has been accomplished this month - I finished filming the music video for The Bad Seed (a dark folk tale about a poisonous tree).

We did some truly awful things to a grand piano.

I've also been managing my mental health, and feel like I’ve learned a lesson about how much I can give. Being on social media as part of my work means I often absorb negative news, and between that and the burnout from spinning too many plates, I’ve realised I need to protect my energy more fiercely... something I have always struggled with.

I want to thank you for sticking with me, the recent survey I did was very encouraging, with an overwhelming majority of you saying that "I just believe in you and want to keep the music going".

I heard you, and therefore I will be making some changes. More about that soon.

Tell Me Again

Today I am proud to share my latest song, Tell Me Again.

This is a deeply emotional, feminist offering that has been haunting my head for some months.

It's about the dangerous concentration of power, wielded by men who seemingly have no morals. The song is a critique of those who have done irreparable damage to both the planet and humanity, with specific references to figures like Mark Zuckerberg, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Prince (no-longer-a-prince) Andrew. However, the lyrics are designed to resonate with any powerful figure who chooses evil over empathy.

During the writing of the song two things happened - I experienced first-hand a verbal attack from a disturbed individual who was caught up in the Manosphere (more about that in my next Behind-The-Veil episode), and simultaneously, I was also reading this book...

...which I highly recommend. It's about Mark Zuckerberg and Meta's rise to power and how they've shaped the political landscape of our world... and not for the better.

The song came just at the right moment, and all the emotions that came with it have been pouring out of me into the lyrics. I was often in tears while writing/singing it.

The song is a reminder that we must all be ready to fight for what is right before it is too late.

Just so you're aware - this is a "first demo" kind of release, just for your ears only. It will eventually become part of my next solo record, but for now here it is with some rough midi drums, Garry's bass and my pianos. It will be re-recorded with full production when the time comes.

Here come the lyrics.

Download song as mp3/wav.

Thank you for being here. Your support means everything, especially during the tough months.

I hope you listen to Tell Me Again and let me know if it strikes a chord.

I’ll see you soon, and I'm always here on our Discord group for a chat.

Love,

Mishkin
