hussah, going to listen now!

DaveTaylor

just skipped through the instrumentals, they sound amazing and now I'm listening to the album proper, it sounds like everything you promised it would. Forbes has done a great job on the production. The guitars are guitary, the strings are stringy, piano/keys are keysey and as for the drums, well let's just say they 'smash it!' In the words of Mr Grace (Are You Being Served)"You've all done very well" :)

DaveTaylor

Jesus H Christ! Deathbed Confession is f**king EPIC!

DaveTaylor

Elliot has a throwback feel to early Birdeatsbaby tracks, but with a tighter production (is Forbes singing on it too?).

Andreas Beste

Awesome new tones! Phat sound! Very excited to hear these new songs live. Im always worried about bands playing too much new stuff. But this new stuff wants to be heard! Now we need bigger stages, bigger venues and a bigger audience.

DaveTaylor

After the frenetic pace of Spit (Hana's fingers must have bled after that), it's nice to take a slight breather with the gospel infused Mary.

DaveTaylor

Bones of God is the a-typical piano led slower song that we have grown to know and love, with echoes of Victoria or The Lighthouse.

DaveTaylor

The track Tanta Furia has some pretty mean accordian playing through it, I think at the moment this is my weakest track out of the whole ensemble (not that it is a weak track, just my least favourite of the songs on this album).

DaveTaylor

In Spite of You kicks off the album brilliantly, coaxing you in with the warmth of a Mishkin vocal hug then slapping you with some integrated guitar/string overlays while the drums get you 'moshing' before briefly mellowing into some rather groovy chamber music. This is followed up with A Part of Me keeping the pace building, again the interplay between Garry and Hana can be clearly heard with Forbes tub thumping keeping the tempo while Mish does some pretty mean jazzy vocals.

DaveTaylor

Scars is a grower, I can see it becoming a fan favourite at gigs, there's a lot going on musically with pace changing and lots of fiddly bits for Garry and Hana to get their teeth into to.

DaveTaylor

Temple is the low down dirty rock and roll groover that we have heard (and seen) for the last couple of weeks on youtube so there isn't much more to say about it, other than "Ooer Missus!" :)

DaveTaylor

in my opinion: best- Deathbed Confession, worst- Tanta Furia. Overall the evolution of the band has been leading up to this as the most complete sound yet. Wicked!

DaveTaylor

Scratch that, Elliot is my favourite after listening to it again :)

DaveTaylor

but then you know me, everything will change again by tomorrow :D

DaveTaylor

just realised I missed off Eulogy, it has a sort of jazz club feel to it with some snazzy syncopated drumming from Forbes and some nice strings.

Yet more terrific music — how do you do it when you hardly ever stop pulling funny faces? No favourites yet, it's too soon for that, but the artwork is as wonderful as we've learned to expect. 😊 I look forward to seeing it on the CD. Well done, all of you! 👏oXo

Amazing all around, this is definitely your best album yet and I can't wait for the physical release!!! I've seen you come so far since I first discovered your music and I know it will only get even better. Faves are Scars, Elliot, Bones of God, and Tanta Furia <3

Hi all, very well done! I was looking forward to hearing Tanta Furia, as one of the cool things about the band is every album sounds different, and I was thinking there could be a big jump with this one. What I liked as I was listening was while this album is another step forward in the evolution of BEB's sound there was a sense of looking back; "Elliot" made me think of "Miserable" and "Tanta Furia" invoked memories of "Incitatus". "I breath your name back to life" great line from Scars! I also really liked the use of the choir. Again, well done and keep up the great work.

2026-09-14 13:00 This album is fantastic. Listening to it cranked up on repeat last night helped me deal with a kicking migraine. I don't know what I'd do without great bands like you guys. "Mary" gives me chills and "Tanta Furia" is a great rocking out song! "Deathbed Confession" and "A Part of Me" are close seconds for favorites. Is there any chance you'll release the lyrics/lyric book digitally? I'm almost positive I'm hearing everything right, but I always doubt my own ears with lyrics after some ridiculous misheard words/phrases.

So very excited! GET IN MY EARS!

First off I'd like to say the accordion riff to the title track is awesome, it burrowed into my brain and stayed there. I think my favorite tracks thus far are Deathbed Confession, Bones of God, and Mary.

Mishkin Fitzgerald

Thanks so much!! Yes we'll be releasing the lyrics shortly on Patreon first... then as a digital booklet :)

Sorry for the long post: Firstly, I’d like to retract my previous statement about the track ‘Tanta Furia’ from the album of the same name, it’s a brilliant track. Having been a long-time fan of Birdeatsbaby (but not the longest by any means), I am somewhat biased in their favour. However, all things being equal since the release to Patreons of ‘Tanta Furia’ I have listened to it in various ways to get the full flavour of each track: In my car, through headphones, on my stereo and via mp3 player. Then for further comparison I went through their entire back catalogue to see how they have evolved . Without meaning to give any disrespect to former members of the band as it has progressed through the years (each of them have been very valuable and indeed many if not all are still friends with the current incarnation), my feeling is that this current line-up is the best version of Birdeatsbaby due to the all-around musicianship and the way they are around each other, a much tighter group. In my (very) humble opinion there is no doubt (none whatsoever) that this album is by far their greatest achievement, it contains the best written, best played, best engineered and best produced selection of songs the band have released to this point. We all have our favourite BEB songs that will stay fixed in time for personal reasons, I myself have always been partial to ‘China Doll’ and have always come away from any show I have seen in person, via someone else’s video upload or live webcast feeling a little disappointed if it wasn’t performed, but not so much that it spoiled my enjoyment of those shows. ‘Tanta Furia’ though, has thrown a massive spanner in the works as it has so many good songs on it, from the opening bars of ‘In Spite Of You’ to the last refrain of ‘Eulogy’, you are taken on a journey that showcases Mishkin’s (seemingly) never ending song writing prowess, an intricate array of melodies and songs that tap into multi genres creating whole new ones. Even the most ardent critic cannot fail to enjoy at least something from this album, and I would argue that there is absolutely nothing to dislike at all.

Holy crap I thot I was already a patron... good thing you send those emails for those of us who forgot! And since it's usually a few weeks late at least before I actually LOOK at email and decide WHAT to read, I get to download stuff as soon as I hear about it! Usually... Oh, and thanx muchly for that nifty li'l EP a while back. It's "different", but still great, and everyone should do something "different" now and then...
