Here’s a rare & complete version of 1924’s ‘Vaudeville’! Reason I say complete is because there was a scene cut from the toon for the later 50’s reissues. See if you can figure out what was cut out!

Vaudeville | 1924 | Out of the Inkwell | 16mm | Koko The Clown | Max Fleischer Studios Cartoon

This is a French copy provided by Blackhawk Films. The series was the result of three short experimental films that Max Fleischer independently produced from 1914 to 1916 to demonstrate his invention, the rotoscope, a device consisting of a film projector and easel used to achieve realistic movement for animated cartoons. The rotoscope projected motion picture film through an opening in the easel, covered by a glass pane serving as a drawing surface. The image on the projected film was traced onto paper, advancing the film one frame at a time as each drawing was made. Fleischer's younger brother Dave Fleischer, who was working as a clown at Coney Island, served as the model for their first famous character, eventually known as Koko the Clown. #KokoTheClown #FleischerStudios #OutoftheInkwell Visit https://www.patreon.com/FleischerToons to help us scan more! I have an educated guess on which scene was cut for TV in the 1950s. I was wondering about who recreated the titles and certain text-based scenes for this French-language print. Was that done by its French distributor, or was it done in-house?
