Greetings!

It is time for the next update!

The save file issue from the last time still persists. It looks like it can't be solved in a good way without making everyone lose their save files. So, I guess that's what we'll have to do. Instead of making all of y'all wait longer for the update, though, I decided to release it as is, to tide you lot over.

There's an OPTIONAL hotfix attached to the post which lets you play the update as usual. You may not need it, though. I'd recommend trying the game and your save files without it first, then install it after, if you can't load your save file.

The full restart will happen either with next week's T1 release or with the next update at the very latest. Sorry for the inconvenience. As best as I can tell, there was nothing I could've done to prevent this (to my understanding, it's a bug in the program I'm using to make CH), but it's still annoying. I hope you understand.

Links are below as usual, feedback goes into the comments or onto the Discord. Have fun!

Update-only (v0.42.x → v0.43.0): To use it, extract the contents of the update-only .zip file into your Crimson High folder and overwrite when prompted. If it doesn't ask to overwrite, you've funked up. If that is the case, please remain calm and ask your neighbors for help. Or me. That works, too.

Changelog:- 19,100 words- 259 renders- 0 new Space Hamsters (yeah, that's right, no hamsters this time; they may get added with the T1 version, but that's not certain yet)

(If one of the links doesn't have all the versions yet, or isn't available at all, try another one or wait a few minutes. They might still be uploading!)

Enjoy the update, folks! Thanks for being awesome and supporting me and CH!

Cheers!

Oh no *utter deadpan*, I will have to experience this great story again from the beginning. However will I endure? More seriously, if people are gonna have to start over anyway you can take the opportunity to expand on the early parts if you want. Put in new scenes, lewd or otherwise, so on and so forth. Treat it as an opportunity for revision that you're sure everyone will see.

I like that idea just dont take to long. I would like to have a full game and the have it updated rather then a half finnished game that is 5+ years on and on remake 48 ect. a couple of weeks to 1 month is ok but any longer and people will see it as a failng game and a dev that just want to milk it for as long a possible( not saying you are) Ive seen it happen in the past to some great games I lovethis game too much for that to happen

While I generally agree with what you're saying (updates should be regular, remakes should be limited, etc.) I don't think that 1 month is the upper limit for how long updates are allowed to take before people consider a game a failure. In fact, there are several games out there, where there is up to a year or more between releases, and the games are still very successful and not considered failures/milking. That being said, I think you may have misunderstood my post, too. I'm not planning on making any sort of remake/overhaul. I'll continue making new content as usual. The post was about a potential need for people to lose their save files because something within the engine broke. However, that is not yet certain, so we may very well end up continuing as before, with all save files intact. Also, thank you for supporting CH, of course :)

Heh, yeah. Poor you. :P While I could use the opportunity (and I will to some degree, if it actually comes to that - I've been meaning to clean up the code for a while now) I don't intend to do a lot of reworking of the early game. Don't get me wrong - I'd love to actually polish up some of the earlier scenes to get them up to the current level of quality. I just don't think it's worth the time investment, seeing as most people dislike waiting for reworks and stuff like that. Instead, I'll continue making content until the game is done, then maybe get back and polish some of the (early) game for a month or two, before eventually moving on to a new project. I appreciate the suggestion, though. It's nice to know that you wouldn't mind me investing time into that kinda thing :)

Loved the update. As usual the only problem with it is, I want more. Save file worked fine for me. Sorry to hear some people may be having problems. I don't download the update though, with each new release i download the new version from scratch and then copy and paste my save file from the folder with the old version into the folder with the new version. So far they've all worked for me. I agree however if at some point the previous save doesn't work, playing through the game again wouldn't exactly be something I'd dislike doing.

Heya! Thanks for your comment. I'm really glad that you liked the update :) It's good to know that you didn't have any issues with the save files either, and that you wouldn't mind replaying as well, if necessary. I'm still hoping that it doesn't come to it, but it's certainly reassuring to hear nonetheless!
