Gumroad is banning NSFW content today. (Patreon)

Why am I posting about this here?

With the recent changes to Patreon's TOS (tldr: making them more vague, which is going to allow for a lot more sweeping bans, which may one day include me due to m/onster f/ucker and B/DSM content) this 24 hours only warning from Gumroad is a giant slap in the face to adult content creators.

Gumroad admits in their announcement that they are bowing to payment processor's on this one and indeed: it's payment processors who are making it difficult for EVERYONE around the internet. (This is a nice time to remind everyone that P*RN IS LEGAL IN THE USA...)

For full transparency, Gumroad was how I got through the month most months. Patreon covers my rent, bills, and taxes, but anything else I wanted to buy for fun or needed for work came from stuff like Gumroad. It was the reason I stopped having to do as many commissions (which are a HUGE time sink) and could focus on original stuff.

It was a pretty big deal for me (financially) and now it's being pulled out from under me just like that; but it isn't just me. This is affecting a ton of people right now, so please do your best to support adult creators you like. (Being a Patron is obviously one of the best things you can do, but try to share some people's posts about this and speak up about how mad it's making you.)

Anyways, that's all to say, I'm stuck here. There's only so much I can do in this situation. A lot of people are in my same situation.

Right now, most of my PDF content is backed up thru Itchio -- so follow me there for future PDF updates. I also (surprisingly) use Google Play books for PDFs too.

However, this means fan comics like my Voxman and Dungeon Meshi stuff is going into purgatory and I have no idea when it'll next become available or where. For now, it'll be exclusive to this page and the $5 site.

Another thing I want to recommend is going through the PDF tag on this page and downloading anything you care about now. We have no idea what the future of my content holds and I make these PDFs *specifically* so folks can have their own, personal, offline archive of my work. Please, save it.

So, until we can fix that, we're gonna see lots and lots more of this. But yeah, Gumroad's bottom-line is about to take a HUGE hit.

Def share some of that anger on socials and where folks can see it. The more support people see NSFW creators getting, the BETTER. Gumroad needs to see that folks care about this and need to see how much they're losing!

That's the weird part. In the end, even the payment processors should be taking a bottom line hit here. In their (likely religious) anti-porn zeal, unaware of just how much people spend on porn.. the prognosis looks worse for them than us in some ways.

So, this issue runs pretty deep! What you're saying here is totally true, and it goes even farther than that. Porn is considered "dangerous" to payment processors not necessarily just because of the "content" but because of how much people will try to cancel the payment. A partner or someone else will see porn on the bill, the person will freak out and then try to get that payment off. The amount of refunds and other stuff that payment processors (claim) happen is pretty wild. If uh, society at large was just cooler with sex and porn and realized it wasn't a big deal, I don't think we'd be seeing this stuff. That's why I think it's so important to try and be sex positive and to share that with your friends and around socials where appropriate. Folks needs to understand this stuff isn't "dirty" and that there isn't any shame to looking at it. But, sadly, we just aren't there yet. :[

Yep! A lot of adult creators have seen the writing on the wall, sadly. We gotta keep speaking out about this and supporting porn where we can!

It's incredibly important, especially to ppl who don't have access to any types of resources in their daily life (I grew up in deep south Mississippi- sex positivity who?!!) Literally it would save so much shame and heartbreak if people would just embrace it 💔💔💔 this is so disheartening!! Manifesting a monumental court case 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Onlyfans is not a replacement for Gumroad and even then, it's absolutely not the only place left. I've always had an Itchio and posted there (as I mentioned above) and live action folks still have quite a few places to post stuff too, but yes, it is getting a lot harder all around for everyone.
