That pout, awwww ♡♡♡♡ I love this part of the narrative a lot because aside from blueballing Sal a bit, this side of Battam also challenges Sal's lived experience in an incredibly fun way. Sal knows how to be that ultimate fantasy. Battam is not safe from that - Sal knows just how to cock his head and smile and lilt his voice in the exact manner that will get Battam all worked up in an instant! And it's tricky because... Battam not going for that is at the same time kind of something Sal likes and hates. It's lovely that Battam isn't as eager to project his fantasies onto Sal as others were, for sure! But at the same time, it takes away all the tools Sal *knows* for getting closer to someone. And I bet it's a bit frustrating because Sal used to feel so confident in this ability, but now it's not working on someone who he REALLY wants to impress! It sometimes looks like he feels tempted to keep pushing, to seduce harder, like he feels that everything about Battam expresses a desire that Sal could fan until it becomes irresistible... But Battam said "no". There's no continuing past "no". That's when you stop, no ifs, whens or buts. It's endlessly frustrating. I can WATCH him think "but you're going half crazy with how much you want the same thing!!" But the trust and respect that can be broken by taking the power of the word "no" is more important. But GOD IT'S A STRUGGLE!
