Eh, the *opinion* of some YouTuber. People who evaluate stuff by what's missing, are looking for an argument. Oh, and breastplates were shaped, have a look at Roman "muscled" armour, or the "peasecod" breastplate of the latter 15th and 16th centuries. I think your art is great, and I wouldn't worry about the opinion of some self-appointed know-it-all.
