I know it's mine. You wouldn't even need to do it more than once during tournament. One somersault and you're a threat for the rest of the day that everyone will be wary of

Boucicoult could dance, run, vault into his horse's saddle, and climb the under-side of siege ladder, all in 1410s era plate armor.

Do people not understand that full suits of plate armour were near works of art? In some cases they were if the person using them was wealthy or highly stationed. Custom fit to each individual wearer to the point it was more like a second skin. You likely could somersault in it. Now, whether that would actually be a good idea or serve a purpose? Almost certainly not.

I have found plate armor more comfortable and easier to move in than chainmail for long periods. Plate stays put, chain tends to slide around and has a different weight distribution. I highly doubt I could do a flip in it, but I can't do that without armor either, LOL.

i always remember this story, i cant remember who this person is but there was a knight who made an obstacle course just to condition his body in armor. i also heard the rumor he could do somersaults in armor but that im not sure on.

To look at modern body armor the weight and fit is almost identical. If a modern solder in body armor can do it, what's stopping a knight in mail or plate armor from doing the same? One knight, I forgot thier name, suggested that a knight should run a mile through the forest in their mail shirt to acclimate themselves to the rigors of combat.

I wanna see this with the crouching Guile standing Ryu stalemate

If anything, modern body armour is more restricting. Whereas harness was eventually tiring due to the weight on the limbs, modern armour is bulky due to multiple laying composites. Sure it's marginally more flexible unless there's plate inserts (which are heavy), but who's going to pass on those if there's lead flying?

So, had this conversation many times. Most of the time I just point them toward a YouTube video by Daniel Jaquet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAzI1UvlQqw which is an obstacle run between a fire fighter, and soldier in full gear against a guy in armour.

In all fairness, certain types of jousting armor made it very difficult to move around in. You'd have your arms locked in position, your helmet was massive and attached to your breastplate, and so on. So yeah, in specific situations even a myth can be true.
