That’s pretty nifty. Too bad you can’t put one of those electromagnets on the back of the drill plate to hold the steel on there firmly, kinda like some matching tables. Well done on the restoration, though I have to ask. Why use the over-sized chain? Why not something similar to what was on it?

Thanks! I actually experimented a bit and used the first coat of japanning as a filler.

The bronze chain is what I had in stock. I should fine a smaller brass one though.

Hahaha exactly! You have to leave the japanning outside to freeze for it to cure.

Yes, this is the upgraded sexier version for sure. Some were attached to forges as well.
