The brass looks fantastic, there's really nothing quite like a beautiful machine with lots of brass on it. I completely agree that it's sensual. Sensual as frig.

Mark Ney

I had a horrible accident a week ago while on vacation. I was working on my boat (new engine with EFI conversion first outing == smart) and dropped my big HTR wrench. I fished with a heavy duty magnet for hours and hours. I dove to the bottom where it fell. I never found it which makes me profoundly sad. It was my thumb detectng nut fckr. Maybe someday someone will find it (the lake is as low as it's been in my lifetime). Lake Powell, a mile or so up Antelope Canyon - on the Arizona side... Right about here: 36.957534,-111.352986 Come home to order a replacement and... I'm excited for your next batch whenever that may be. Thanks as always for the great content.

handtoolrescue

Nooooo! Send me your order number to my email and we can work something out ;)

Tedd ILL

Awesome!!!! Kieth Appleton can give you some pointers on timing and mahogany cladding. Sounds great.

Brooks Moses

"Fireboxes", hah! That was a good one. Also perhaps the original flywheel and pulley were swiped to fix a tractor that needed them.

Mike Kelley

Great Job on the beautiful steam engine, Eric! The VFD telephone is great!

EpictetusTheStoic

Beautiful as it is, I'm just not sure it's going to be able to be sufficient power to farm TWENTY THOUSAND ACRES.

Stephen Boots

It was wonderful seeing, and hearing, it run!

eric salottolo

Is there a "modern" replacement for babbitt bearings?

ChuckD

"Bailamos, let the river take you over..." Soon, amigo. After my ...medication.

Rik Kershaw-Moore

Just the thought of being de-flanged brought tears to my eyes

Brian Myers

Even though you were never in any physical danger... +1. Beautiful. Definitely one of my favorites.

Reid

Brass oilers are life. MASSIVELY. 😉

Danny

This is so cool! 😍

Russ Generes

Eric, that was neat! I know the feeling you get when something so challenging is accomplished. Good job, great videos and voice over.

Scott Miller

There is indeed... Newly poured babbit bearings.

Planky

I dont know what you are talking about :D

Old Crow Bourbon

Congratulations! I looks beautiful and makes beautiful sounds and I hope you run it for hours just staring at it and get a neighborhood nickname because of it. “Starey Guy” or “Old Steamie.” PS Make sure to send that guy Grade B maple syrup. Not that tasteless Grade A crap.

Bobby Thacker

Great video! I’ll never have to do this again… then….

Mike Bird

Don't worry, Keith Appleton (MainsteamModels.com) who repairs and rebuilds model steam engines uses Locktite alot!.

Victor Au

It’s beautiful!

Ryan Whitten

Absolutely amazing! Great job!

Luke Jordan

What’s happens with the final products? Are they sold? Kept? Used? I’m so fascinated!

Thomas E Dodd

Lots of engine bearings are still babbitt, at least the high performance stuff (like Clevite M series), Just manufactured with a steal backing plate (bi-metal) or even steel, aluminum, babbitt (tri-metal) instead of poured in place. Other materials are also used, mainly because of the aversion to lead (a big part of babbitt).

handtoolrescue

I keep most. I've sold as few as well. The rest I just burn...

HamOnTheCob

Burninating the countryside... burninating the peasants

Jim Sturges Jr

I found this restoration to be massively sensual.
