Dream (Patreon)

I had a dream that I was at a wedding and I had the opportunity to take incredible photos. In the woods, in the snow… them jumping in the lake, even.
Next door was another model that wanted to shoot; I thought I could do that first and just come back to the wedding.
The model next door wasn’t at all experienced. She didn’t follow my direction when I would pose her, she kept dropping my stuff and breaking them. It was a disaster.
I then noticed the bride and groom jump in the lake, knowing in that moment I was too late to take the cool pictures of them when they were dry and done up.
I jumped over the fence from where I was and ran to them as they were coming out of the lake. When I finally reached them they were walking up the stairs in the house and I shouted up to them “hey, I wanted to take your pictures!“
The husband then mimicked what I said as if I was a child.
When I woke up I realized what the message was and it’s the fact that I am spending my time doing things that aren’t serving me, while opportunities pass me by.
It means the world to me to take photos, but being a people pleaser devalues me. There have been plenty of times when I’ve offered my work for free and I am worth so much more. I should be applying myself to areas where I am appreciated and recognized as a talented artist. Experiences with people that I’ve devoted time to, that never even appreciated my time and effort caused me to doubt myself and I’ve reached a point where I’m continuously reminding myself of my worth.
It’s time to channel into a whole new mind set where I give myself credit for how far I’ve come with my art. We all need the clouds to make a sky.
