I love this episode

Some people have had heart attacks and not even known for days until they’re practically dying. They can be very slow! So scary

The scene with Ben running to the hospital makes me sob

Ry.Blair

Tbh, even til this day i still mistake her for courtney cox, and i took me a while to realise it's not her

This ep was Black asf! Love it 🥰

Women especially! I’ve heard crazy stories of tons of women’s experiences. It’s crazy that women’s symptoms aren’t common knowledge but men’s are. SMH

With this episode and the last, GA has been focusing on black issues this season. Love the way Bailey fought for herself.

Heart attacks are much more harder to detect on women as their symptoms are so different

Shin

Yeah it was still kind of a bottled one so not my favourite kind either. I did enjoy the flashbacks and getting a little backstory with her mom though. Also, I forgot how scary this episode statements are so let's gladly forget it again. Loved your reaction. See you on the next one.

Yes heart attacks actually are majority asymptomatic and you don't even know it until you have another much bigger or more fatal one. Especially in women, it is a whole different mechanism than the men, all the medical knowledge and data etc. for anything and everything from fitness ice baths recovery to heart attacks, deadly diseases and more are focused on males and their average, not the female population. So if you focus on women and see the seperate research that is now being done, you see just how much harder it is to diagnose women, why women have historically been called hypochondriacs or the fact they've been so mistreated there's sayings that were used and 'female hysteria' being a 'diagnosis' as well. For example, my mum was in the hospital recently for something else but after days of leaning on the bed and armchair sideways she had muscle pain on her pecs and collar bone-shoulder and she told them and instantly they pressed the red button, got everyone in like an emergency, did all the tests everything, of course it was just muscle pain, but because its on your chest, you can't be sure that the patient knows the difference and if there is even a difference, so that was the right thing to do especially because it's a woman. You can see they're like oh this is all normal, so you're not having one, we wont even bother doing a stress test or anything else because you're just being dramatic, (AS IF SOMEONE WOULD WANT TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK AND ACT LIKE IT LIKE WTFFFF???) because they don't even know what else to look for that's specific to women. It's disgusting, women have to work 10000x harder just to get checked out properly, let alone diagnosed properly. So many women are diagnosed at 'end stage' or fatal levels because doctors don't even learn about the female body and the mechanisms, it's all from the male body and the way they react. So Bailey is certainly not being rude, she has to take control, and even her who has all that knowledge and credentials isn't immune just goes to show you. Meanwhile if a male medical student still in school came in and said the same, they'd be like oh yeah of course you know what you're talking about let's investigate. Also it literally took a ma being there and Richard telling the guy to give Maggie privileges as a mate and then he did it, despite having the head of Cardio there and a woman who does surgeries he’s never even heard of!

I thought I was having a heart attack Friday. Laying in my bed sick with the stomach flu. I was the only one home. Started having horrible chest pains. Lasted at least an hour maybe more. I fell back asleep eventually because I was sick and sleepy from dehydration even though I was trying to drink fluids. It was a little scary. I woke up Saturday morning and started feeling much better. Off the weekend. Back to work this morning.

Katherine pisses me off sometimes but I love her “child please”. Poor Miranda. I’ve been there in the ER with heart issues telling them they need to run more tests while they sit there and tell me it’s anxiety and it turns out it’s a heart arrhythmia. It’s under control now but I thought I was dying and it was the cause of my anxiety, not vice versa.

Sometimes you gotta advocate for yourself

iamcecy

When you were smiling and laughing at the beginning of the episode, I was thinking “Poor Travis just wait until you realize she’s having a heart attack.” I knew you were going to be upset they were playing with Bailey’s life this episode.

Gehazi Whitehurst

No fr. Just seeing this comment and episode but I'm loving the representation. My mother had a similar situation (not advocating for herself, but she did have a heart attack that was not "traditional" in the sense that folks would think.)
