This is such an underrated movie! I know a lot of people felt like it didn't live up to the hype of the Infinity Saga, but like you said, this could have very well been a stand alone movie, but it also does fit nicely into the established MCU. This movie is visually stunning and the story is both powerful and deep. This is hands down one of the best post Endgame MCU movies.

Definitely not one of the universally hated ones in the MCU. Not even close lmao! It's way better than the preceding movie, Black Widow, with some of the best action in the MCU, beautiful shots (as you mentioned), actual emotional resonance (could've used some more, but we got a good bit here), and, honestly, an underrated score. Easily one of my favorite MCU movies, post-Endgame! Glad you recognized Michelle Yeoh, who definitely does her own fight scenes as she is Kung Fu movie royalty (hell, she's just movie royalty at this point 😂😂😂). I know Everything, Everywhere, All At Once was a lot for you, but Shang-Chi seemed like your speed a lot more lol. Then there's our title character, who you've actually seen before in Barbie. I haven't seen the Barbie movie myself, but I remember seeing him in the trailer for the movie lol. Katy is played by Awkwafina and she fits right into the MCU mold with her brand of humor. Trevor Slattery was in Iron Man 3 (played by the same actor) as the fake terrorist used as a pawn by the real villain of the movie. Wenwu is an interesting villain because he's not driven by the desire to rule the world or anything like that. He's just a man mourning the death of his wife. He's an absolute dick about it, but he didn't have malicious intent. Was he stupid? Absolutely, as grief can make you stupid. He is the catalyst for the climax of this movie and, in the end, he realized that and saved his son. One good deed can't redeem him, but he's not your cookie cutter villain that a lot of the MCU seems to like to include in their movies. Looks like Eternals is next on the docket. It'll be interesting to see what you think about this one

Just watched, awesome reaction. This is definitely a loved movie so don't worry. Top 5 in the MCU for sure!! The fight scenes are beautiful, the whole final battle with the dragons was stunning, the acting is great throughout, the humour is put in at the right moments and it really does leave you smiling. Fantastic movie!! All the unusual creatures, including the cute little chicken pig lol, are taken from real Chinese fairytales. In fact a lot of this character's story was, the comic books adapted a bunch of Chinese fairytales for it. I didn't think you'd remember the British guy Trevor from Iron Man 3 because it was so long ago for you, but he's great in this. The actor for Shang, Simu Liu, is known for a sitcom called Kim's Convenience and the actress for Katy, Awkwafina, is a very well known comedic actress doing many different things over the years including voicing Skuttle (the bird) in the live action Little Mermaid. So them both being great comedic actors in this movie is no surprise to those of us who knew them before. And it was great to have Wong cameo in this, I'm not sure from the reaction if you recognized him or not but he's Dr Strange's right hand man. Such a brilliant movie and I'm SO glad you enjoyed it. 😊
