Ok so I already really liked the blonde doc with the glasses but now she’s my fave I think. First of all I clocked that guy as autistic immediately- those are my peeps right there. Absolutely love that the doc (is it Dr King?) knew how to communicate with him. That was some great representation. She’s talking about her sister but I have also been wondering since before this ep if she might have a touch of the ‘tism. Regardless, love her, slay. The stuff with the pervy guy with boobs allegedly molesting his daughter was a lot and I don’t know how to feel. Like the social worker lady (is she a social worker?) and Dr Robbie being kinda meh we can’t do anything about it was pretty upsetting. But I’m not really a fan of how the brazen student doc handled it either. I don’t really like her in general. She’s clearly got some stuff she needs to work through that makes her kinda an asshole. And lastly, I’m still waiting to see how I feel about their handling of psych cases. So far it feels not so great like they’re this kind of burden of an afterthought which bums me out cause it’s probably realistic.

I think King is my fave as well though Collins is pretty close. Also love how they show her and her "mentor" - Langdon? He seems like an impatient and kind of abrasive kind of guy (maybe a bit of an asshole 😂 ), but he seems to have clocked pretty quickly that she responds better to another approach - apparently.

Agree with everything you said. I’m AuDHD and you can spot it a mile off in another person. The representation was great in this episode

It’s very realistic unfortunately. Psych cases & all things mental health are not taken seriously enough or with enough compassion 😔

Seriously. The issues raised in this ep felt like a triple whammy for me between the neurodiversity, mental health treatment, and childhood SA. I think if they hadn't shown the blonde doc successfully connecting with the autistic guy I would've been so deflated after this one !

Santos is a resident not a student doctor but yeah she didn't handle that correctly lol. And psych cases are typically not emergencies so they don't prioritize them in the emergency room they just consult psych and wait for them to get the patients.

scarr

Yeah I get that but it was the general dismissiveness from Robbie I guess when faced with someone presenting with psychiatric symptoms when the other doc thought there could be more differential dx needed to treat. Then ofc there's the whole other issue of the backup of psych patients waiting because there aren't enough beds / access to the appropriate care...
