I have watched a bunch of ER doctors and nurses on YouTube, reacting to this show. Most say it is the most accurate medical show they have ever watched. And that big city ERs really are this crazy. Maybe not all in one shift, but they said the stories are right. I even watched a cop reacting to some of the stuff and he loved how it showed why ER employees are trained to spot potential abuse/trafficking/etc. I may have gotten stuck in a YT rabbit hole of watching ER workers react to this show.... I've probably seen the first episode about 10 times now 😂

Well damn. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was really going on with Langden this whole ep. That sucks and I kinda hate that Santos was right. I still don’t quite understand the differences in hierarchy between all these docs but they’ve said several times it’s her first day so like… what newish doctor on their very first shift is not worried about herself enough to first of all notice whatever was happening with the meds and second of all have the wild gall to actually make the accusation. Something about that really pisses me off so I HATE that she was right 😂 Ok it was definitely either the last ep or one before when I said lil Dr King would make a great speech-language pathologist and lo and behold here she is this ep finding a way for the stroke pt with aphasia to tell them her name using assistive tech. That’s a neurodivergent SLP right there 🥹👏🤟 And lastly this young prodigy doc stresses me out. The last ep when she was fumbling trying to ask out Mateo in front of that patient I was mortified. That guy thought it was funny but if I was the patient I’d a been so damn uncomfortable. And now again trying to force herself into their plans so painfully awkwardly…also snapping at the dad…I really need her to get it together. That dad was too much but like, use that filter babe 🙏

As a nurse (though not in the ER), all these things really do happen. From what I heard, more often than not you'll get a few of these in one shift, not all of them. But the emotional whiplash is real though. Going from one room where family members are crying because their son is dying, to the next patient yelling at you because they had to wait 10 minutes for water, to the next where the stroke patient is miraculously better... And going back and forth between those all day. I love the scene with Robbie and Langdon at the end there. It's even better when you realize that the actor for Robbie had this storyline and confrontation when he played a character in ER, except that in that one he was the addict. Kinda full circle...

Rebeca

That’s why we have such dark and inappropriate sense of humor

Kocia

Are you talking about the detective from The 10-8 Show? That's a great analysis indeed.

Hierarchy wise. Robby is the attending top of the food chain :D, Collins and Langdon R4 finishing their residency, Mohan is R3, McKey and Mel are R2 but Mel is new to ED, Santos is R1 (intern), Whitaker is M4 and Javadi M3 (both still med students / student-doctors) Santos is an intern but she is not super green she would have done a number of rotations in med school just as Whitaker and Javadi are doing now. She mentioned early on she did a rotation in pain clinic for example. Which she would have very recent training on and contact with people dealing with drug addictions related to pain. So while not being yet familiar with Langdon and seeing irregularities around him and pain meds? Her spider-sense got tingly. Yeah probably in real life she would not clock him Day 1. And if not for Louis return missing his meds and Langdon finding excuses she probably would took longer to really spot it. I was rooting for her to be right so this episode I was very happy :D And we all love Mel. I have not seen a character that lovable from the get go in ages.

i’m so so excited for your reaction to the rest of this season!

PumpkinSparks

yeah, me too. I was kinda relieved when "normal" people started doing reactions, cause my brain got a bit saturated and overwhelmed with all the medical insights XD But this show is so freaking good, and it's so interesting to hear all the insights of different perceptions, and see what cases get different reactions and what every profession agrees on - I just can't get enough!

PumpkinSparks

I understand your frustation with Javadi (and I tend to skip her interpersonal scenes due to second hand embarresment), but we shouldn't forget how young she is. She just stated this episode that she started studying when she was 13! So during her informative years she was surrounded by kids much older than her (and very probably didn't socialize too much with them) and her social bubble was very likely mostly her parents - at least the mom seems to be quite overbearing and success driven. So it's not a stretch to assume she never really learned how to socialize with people on her own level. This is one of the first times since her adolesence that she is surrounded by her peers (most of them still older than her), so of course she is incredibly awkward! I absolutely agree with you being stressed out by her! But I also empathize with her situation...

Kocia, yes... the detective from 10-8. I'm working on time stamps for him on the parts of episodes with the kid with the list of girls (since it takes the whole season for the story line), so that he can react to that.

Kocia

Becky, what a great idea!

i watched dr mike’s reactions to the whole show 🤭
