I really need to clip all the times Travis makes a remark about Jackson like “you can bump into me” bc it happens every single episode and I’m sure I could make an hour long edit of him just thirsting for Jackson and I’m here for it bc SAME

I don't understand why they didn't just do this initial surgery pro bono - with 2 board members involved in the case that should've been such an easy discussion? At least that would've given them time to think of a solution for the follow-up care involved. Besides that, this whole thing is so ridiculous so I guess good for Greys to address the mess that is insurance and healthcare in the US (watching from Europe).

This was my first thought as well, but IIRC from an earlier season (perhaps when Alex’s brother needs hernia surgery?) they have a specific budget for pro bono surgeries and the chief has to sign off bc every single person in the OR has to donate their time. Gabi needed surgery ASAP, it probably would have taken too long to do things the right way. Either way, I’m glad Grey’s shed some light on our ridiculous medical care here in the US. I pay over $600/month for my family of 3 and yet my primary copay is $100, specialist is $150-$200, and ER copay is $1000. Most testing/procedures have a $500 copay. It’s a scam.

Simple...pro bono surgeries still cost money, theres a budget that exists for that, in order to make sure that money is used appropriately, they must be approved in order to use the funds. The whole point is she wouldn't be able to get it approved and Gabi didn't have that kind of time. It's actually more realistic than her just getting pro bono surgery that day...thats not a thing.
