This episode ofc felt so random, but the perfect tie in with Rebecca mentioning how someone can be a stranger then play a huge role in your life, of how these random people we’ve never seen before and how they’ll be playing w role in the lives of our characters. Especially with the flash forwards of their son Jack. It’s such a good fucking show ✨

I’ve seen this show a dozen times and pick up something new each time. Even before Cassidy (Emma Swan) mentions that she and her husband are separated, he was always shown wearing his wedding band on his right hand, not his left, which I always thought was only done if your spouse dies. Perhaps it’s also done when your spouse is on military leave?

Also Jack (Damon) was at the Greek Theater! And according to That Was Us podcast, they only had one take to really do it, and they did it in the middle of a Chicago concert! (And the actor Blake is blind irl too!)

The Jack reveal was definitely great. Still seems like an interesting choice to me to have so much focus in a season opener go to 2 brand new characters who by the end only come to randomly encounter 2 of our known characters who they themselves aren’t even our mains but rather characters who have come to be important to our mains. Maybe that’s the point though? Like the “Us” keeps expanding? I don’t know but I’m assuming over the season we’ll come to see why those encounters are significant and assuming also it means we’ll spend more time with Nicky and Deja which I’m very down for.

I love how they use the music from the last 3 seasons of this is us for Jack's song! The tye in was soool good. And then to have the whole stranger theme was very cool too. We see that Jack and Miguel's friendship just started out with Jack meeting a suit salesman who did him a favor loaning him a suit.

Ughhhh I remember the first time I watched this, the show had been renewed for 3 more seasons (and we knew Dan fogleman wanted to make 6 seasons and that would be it) so I was like okay maybe these people are going to become important for the last 3 seasons, I will trust the creator cause he’s had his plan for the whole show from the beginning but I was still confused at the multiple brand new characters in the premiere And then when they revealed that Malik was going to become important to Deja I thought cool the actress is great and it makes sense she’d start getting a more important storyline, and they revealed Cassidy meeting Nicky and I was so happy cause I LOVE Nicky and I was thrilled they were continuing his storyline. But then the Jack reveal was just incredible, and the way they cut back and forth to past Jack and Rebecca, not only showing baby Jack’s namesake but also showing Rebecca performing (which is how she and Jack met and the reason that this whole show even exists and also showing the talent that Rebecca passed down to Kate who passed it down to Jack) ugh it’s just PERFECT. God I love this show so much

I first watched this with my mom and when I realized that it was adult baby Jack performing at the end of the episode I boohoo SOBBED, making a fool of myself, because that experience was literally 3 generations in the making!! Honestly, one of my favorite episodes of the show, especially once you watch it back with context.

Jennifer Morrison actually had a prominent role before Once Upon a Time. I won't say which show it was on the hopeful eventuality that it gets sponsored in the future I think I read that she was going through health issues at the end of OUaT which is why she barely featured in the final season and was very subdued in the previous season. So seeing her on this show is pretty awesome.
