As a bisexual man who's had a rocky relationship with his mother who not only didn't support me for who I am, but also wanted to send me to one of these camps, this episode hit hard for me. I always have to brace myself beforehand.

On a lighter note, fun fact: The actor who played the unsub was the red head magician in the first Princess Diaries and he currently plays on Chicago P.D.

This episode really punches you in the gut repeatedly! It's so good, but oh boy! Maybe it wasn't the wisest idea to watch your reaction right before bedtime... I think I'm gonna watch some puppy videos before going to bed...

I'm so sorry you had to go through that! Understandable that these kinds of episodes are particularly difficult for you. Hopefully you're surrounded now by people who love and support you! There certainly is a whole community here that doesn't give a fuck who you like!!!

From Princess Diaries or Chicago P.D.?

Clay W

Thank you, I appreciate it. I do have people in my corner so I'm grateful for that.

Some puppy videos sound really good after this tragic episode.

I know him from Chicago PD. He's a great actor.

The only thing that really gets me through this episode is watching that sick "camp" get taken completely down at the end. One of my daughter's best friends lived with us for a couple years in high school. His dad had kicked him out for being gay. So, we took him in as part of our family. He finished HS and now lives with his boyfriend. They are both 24 and have been together for 3 years. And it makes me so incredibly happy to see them happy!

Well I obviously appreciate what they were doing with the messaging this ep and highlighting the sick and twisted and utter ridiculousness of these camps and “conversion” programs that we know are real and cause incredible harm. This did feel like an episode to me though where that message kind of overtook or overshadowed the crimes of the unsub- in that it did feel like we were almost meant to kind of excuse him for having brutally killed 4 completely innocent people (not counting his dad whose innocence could certainly be debated) - and sort of accept a logic that enduring this horrendous type of trauma could reasonably lead someone to that kind of behavior. And I just don’t think that’s true. Like Morgan seemingly getting through to him at the end there by saying something about not letting others have to go through what he did … suddenly this is a person who thinks about his actions in relation to others? After going on a homicidal rampage? I just wasn’t really buying that.

Nettie

I’m sorry you had to deal with that in your life

Thank you

It sucks that some of the best episodes are the hardest to watch.

Just want to say, the original bible never once mentions homosexuality as a sin or anything at all, that was a mistranslation from one of the first mass produced bibles in the early 1900’s America that spread. The original translation was more ‘don’t sleep with (rape) your young male slaves (kids) the way you sleep with your wife’, there is a few papers on it and I believe a documentary from the 60’s but it took to mainstream around the same time as desegregation so the hateful religious types (kkk) were forced to drop the public racism and needed a new outlet: homosexuality. In truth there have been several SAINTS that were openly gay and or trans, 100% accepted and praised. Fun fact there were 2 ftm trans monks who ended up at the same monastery and were allowed to share living quarters while spending almost their whole lives together in the….1200’s (?) I believe. Both sainted after their death (lived long full lives). Anyone using the Bible to attack the lgbt is quite literally following the kkk’s rebranding and nothing more.

I believe in God but I don’t believe in trying to force anyone to accept my beliefs as well. Be who you are and love who you want to love! This episode had me in tears the whole time because not only is it awful to see someone hate themselves, it’s absolutely disgusting and horrific that some people feel like they have the right to persecute others for their sexuality!! Judge not, lest you also be judged.
