You're a guy. And, she is in charge....so, she has to appear focused on the case. Unfair or not, people would treat her differently than they would a newly engaged man. Also, a lot of female cops don't wear their engagement rings on duty. Just their wedding bands, because of the danger of losing the diamond in a fight.
