This episode always annoyed me. Of course it's as funny as always but I hated what they did to Emily. As you said, up until now everything she's done and all her feelings have been valid and made sense. But in this episode they suddenly made her this controlling, bitchy, horrible person. I guess because they wanted the audience to hate her and not Ross, idk. But yeah Emily is a character who deserved better than that. Especially because the actress has recieved hate over this storyline for her entire life, she talked about it in an interview just last year saying she still gets threats from Friends fans. It's awful. 💔

Well that seems more like an issue with people than the character…

Siobhan Linehan

Of course the people are the problem but the show making her this way out of nowhere to justify writing her out is what caused the audience to hate the character. That's absolutely no excuse for being awful to the actress, but the writers should take some responsibility.

"Yeah, you can help me get my stuff back from Gunther" 🤣🤣🤣

Joey is so funny ha ha. Loved your reaction. See you on the next one.

No matter what anyone says about Emily, her feelings were justified on some level. They got married too fast in my opinion, yes, but saying your ex’s name at the altar is completely inexcusable. Sure, at times she was being unreasonable, but I would be hurt too if I was put in that situation. Hopefully this isn’t a spoiler, but Emily’s actress was pregnant so that’s why her scenes would be shot that way with her in bed or on a couch.

I will always know him as the love interest in Adventure's In Babysitting, I can't remember if he has a name in it or not.

To me, her marrying Ross despite him saying his ex's name showed her possessive side. It was like she needed to marry him to make sure he was hers, even though she ditches him right after. So, this episode never felt unusual or uncharacteristic. And let's not forget, she had another boyfriend in season 4 she never mentioned until after she left.

Elsa Millie

I agree that this episode doesn't feel uncharacteristic or anything but I don't think her continuing with the wedding was due to possessiveness. I mean putting myself in that position I probably would have continued with the wedding as well. For one, she was probably shellshocked and not thinking properly. Also she's already feeling humiliated she probably doesn't want to add any other layers of embarrassment by running off in that moment and leaving Ross at the alter. It probably would have been the easier option considering how expensive and horrible the divorce process is but I also don't think that it showed possessiveness. Also don't forget that she almost forgave Ross and went on the honeymoon with him before seeing Ross and Rachel about to go on the honeymoon trip instead of Ross and herself. So this reaction isn't just because of Ross saying the wrong name this is after layers of boneheaded and disrespectful behavior by Ross.

eh, its not that deep , "I hate this episode" is a bit much , that also just because people or "fans" choose to be awful to the actress

Siobhan Linehan

I didn't say I hate this episode, I said this episode annoys me because I hate what they did to Emily. I also said the episode is funny which it is. I just wish they'd ended Emily's story in a better way, the writing absolutely does play a part in why those bad fans go after the actress.

Jahnae Phillip

I most definitely agree with you! I don’t think that was possessiveness. That really only came out in this episode imo.
