The mixing process having been thoroughly covered, Victoria's tour of the ice cream factory continues. As she makes her way down the stairs, ignoring what appear to be strange gaps in the factory's railings, she has a discussion with her producer about Channel 5's blurring policy. Apparently, they don't have one. This is common enough in Awesome City and around the world in the world in which this story takes place. Blurs are dishonest things, they distort the world and give us an incorrect view of things. It's unrealistic to expect potentially objectionable things to be hidden from our view with a layer of digital gauze. Although Victoria may not appreciate it now, and probably won't later, but the news is best when it's crystal clear.

This page is another example of background elements not playing nice with the art. The railing was an easy fix, put a gap in it and add a sign to lampshade the obvious motivation in doing so. The little sign on the vat was a different matter. The dialogue balloon more or less had to be right there, and moving it would have been much more trouble than it was worth. The part you can't see says something like " 1000 liters of Nom Noms", in case anyone was wondering.

"Parts of railing may be missing for reasons". Love it!

I have to begrudgingly agree that the no blurring policy is a good one.... In fact it was because of that policy I was able to break out from covering High School games where the boys kept talking to my boobs whenever I tried to interview them. I was doing an expose on the mayor. You see, he was running on a campaign of "Awesome Changes for Awesome City" and he punctuated the message by showing off a very suspiciously large bulge. He would brag that it was in his DNA to make those changes, all we had to do was ask his wife who would giggle and nod her head. At the time I was covering his campaign I was greatly impressed and I could tell that he was impressed with me too, but because I'm a firm believer in journalistic integrity, nothing went further than playful banter. Unfortunately he turned out to be like most politicians and all of those Awesome Changes for Awesome City that he promised never materialized, so I investigated. It turns out that the Mayor of Awesome City wasn't so awesome himself and thanks to the no boring policy and an invite to a donor party in his very palatial backyard with a very large pool, I was able to get his Speedo down around his knees and the truth was out... The only thing awesome about Awesome City's Mayor is the courage of his wife to nod her head knowing it was a lie.

Oh yes! "Bulgegate" was huge news when it broke. (At least the STORY was big 😄) The "no blur" sword truly cuts both ways.

legmuscle

That would be "A quick trip to the bank" which is a story I started but never finished. I keep meaning to get back to it someday

Thanks! I'm sure the reasons are very important 😄

It's negotiating terms of its surrender as we speak 😊
