Hello Supporters!

Thank you, one and all, for your support of me in my writing. I love every day of my work, and this is unquestionably my dream come true.

My goal is to be as forthright with y’all as possible, so I apologize in advance if this is a bit too much info. I think it’s all positive.

MM going forward:

I will type out the last (chronological) chapter of MM before mid-September. (Yes, I know that’s quite soon!)

Once that is done, I will be working with my supporters (that’s you all) to feather the landing of the series, aka, this final book. I will be adding content to make what I have written better, and I am even willing to add/rewrite full chapters if that is what will be best for the story.

MM closeout schedule:

20th of Dec 2026 - Manuscript finalized with all content

Jan 2027 - the first editor will get MM 15

Feb 2027 - the second editor will get MM 15

Mar 2027 - Public Publication of MM 14, and Tess Irondale will get her narration manuscript for MM 15

Apr 2027 - Tess Irondale will do the recording of MM 15 - Eskau of War

Jun - July 2027 - Review and finalization of MM 15 Audiobook

Fall 2027 - Release of MM 15

Supporter Schedule:

As the final chapter is available to lower tiers of support, I will close off the more ‘advanced chapter’ tiers from new membership.

I will work with all patrons that give input to improve the story (until Dec 20th).

All tiers that have access to a chapter will be notified of any changes/additions.

I plan on giving some fun additional rewards for continuing supporters, including behind the scenes looks at cover creation and ideation as well as, potentially, some audiobook bloopers, etc.

CYA going forward:

Nothing will change for CYA for September.

Tentative plan starting in October

CYA Patreon will increase in cost to $10/month. This will become my ‘core’ tier!

Increase to 3 chapters/week or 12/month.

Any supporters at that time will be grandfathered in at the lower price.

Royal Road pace will not be increased, likely until 2027.

Patreon is currently 16 ahead of RR, and with this increased pace on the patreon side, we are going to get solidly ahead, y’all!

Publishing Plan

Book 1 is back from Aethon, and we might need to cut it in half. (I don’t want to, and the editor agrees with me, but it’s a chonker.)

Book 2 (or 3) will be Alex’s time on the Innominate, and should be finished in early 2027.

If this is book 3, the publishing engine will kick into high gear, and we’ll likely get CYA published in 2027.

If not, I’ll still likely finish the next book—and the tutorial—before Fall 2027, thereby kicking off the drive toward publication then.

Further books

I have 6-9+ books roughly projected at the moment, where I know the highest points of the story, and I’m excitedly building out scenes/story points in my head in preparation for writing those books.

I’m in CYA for the long haul, and I’m really enjoying it! Even if I am able to write 2-3 books/year of CYA, that means we’re looking at another 2+ years of CYA system goodness at a minimum!

Other fiction:

I have a few one-offs in the works, one which is already fully written and is being shopped around at the moment.

There are a couple of serializable ideas I have percolating, and I’m excited for those as well.

I don’t think I’ll be doing any of the series I’m currently considering alongside CYA. As stated above, I am looking at some fun one-offs, though!

I do hope and pray that this finds you well, and I look forward to writing for y’all for years—even decades—to come.

Best Regards,

J.L.Mullins

Dusk Star

Would there be a way for MM supporters to move to CYA smoothly?

Ellariayn

I appreciate your honesty. As someone who has absolutely adored Millennial Mage, I hope that we eventually get another slice of life series. And I’ll be sad to leave the world. I have a lot of friends there lol.

Michael

Sad to see MM end, but better a proper, planned end than declining quality after the story is done and ideas are half-hearted or just winding it down without an end or something. 👍 Looking forward to more CYA though. And thanks for the heads up about your plans!

Michael

Yeah, i wouldn't mind at all if we got a one-off set in the MM world at some point. Even from a different period, like Mistress Holly's youth, or the first gated humans breaking from the arcanes, etc.

Crimson

Any plans to do a complete book set? Signed? 👀 I'd love to have the series immortalized on my bookshelf here at home, figured I might hold off buying individual books if a plan for some special set is planned for when it all wraps up

J.L.Mullins

Yes! The plan was to figure something out in the new year, likely to be a purchasable through Ko-Fi, etc. Stay as at least a 'free' follower and you'll get the news when it comes through. Thank you for asking! 😊

Crimson

& thank you for writing! 🫡

J.L.Mullins

So long as you join as a CYA patron ($5/month) before October, you'll get that price grandfathered in. But that's not your question is it... Hmmm... Can you describe to me your ideal, and I'll see what I can make happen. I imagine you aren't alone in your desires, so I'm happy to find a way of making it work if I can! 😊 Thank you for asking and for raising the flag!

J.L.Mullins

Thank you for the kind words! CYA has a slice-of-life framing (i.e. fewer skips etc), but I know what you mean. The tutorials, at the very least, aren't very cozy. That story will become more so once Alex gets established back on earth, but that's book 3-4+, and I can understand not wanting to read 4 books that aren't your flavor to get to what you want! No cozy slice of life is in the works at the moment, but I definitely enjoyed writing MM quite a bit and can see myself getting back to something like it in the future.

Ellariayn

Not the person who commented, but ideally I would eventually just have my Patreon convert from MM to CYA? But I don’t want to lose access to MM until absolutely necessary lol.

J.L.Mullins

I might do one or more one-offs in Zeme in the future, but in all likelihood, they wouldn't be slice-of-life, as that particular style doesn't lend itself to 'short' fiction. (Yes, one book is short.) 😋 But we shall see!

Ellariayn

Any ideas that you’re percolating for the future have the potential for slice of life? Just curious. 🥰

Dusk Star

Honestly I'm not sure. I'd of course love to move over at the price I'm paying but TBH I don't even remember what that is

Clinton Walsh

For those of us who are newer or who just haven't been paying close attention... What does CYA stand for? Is there a link to the CYA Patreon/Royal Road?

Somebody

It's so weird to be neir the end because i remember i accidentally forgot about the novel i remember i was shortly after her relationship begin

James

Im happy for you and this is a huge accomplishment but man im going to miss MM so much its been part of my life for so long now

J.L.Mullins

None specifically at the moment? But my style of writing does tend that way more than 'higher overview' style. 😋 We may get another cozy later on!

Allan Miller

I’m an Archon Watcher, what happens to my tier once the last chapter of MM is released?

J.L.Mullins

Excellent question! Let me run what I'm thinking by you: I'm planning on transitioning that tier to something like 'J.L.Mullins Superfan!' It wil get you all the CYA updates along with looks at whatever else I'm working on, including immediately getting access to a stand-alone novel that I just rewrote at the beginning of the year. Additionally, you'll get all the MM updates as that wraps up with the publication of the last books, etc. How does that seem to you? Is there anything else that comes to mind?

Allan Miller

Seems reasonable. Depending on how it goes I might elect to move down to CYA. As always, thanks for writing great fiction!

J.L.Mullins

Absolutely! I'll start giving extras today or tomorrow. Wherever you land, thank you for your readership and support! 😊
