Preemptive Advice: Read the entire recipe first, before you begin, to avoid added difficulty.

Ingredients:

2⁄3 cup – All-purpose flour

1 tsp – salt

1⁄2 tsp – baking powder

1⁄3 cup – beer

1 – egg

Canola oil (or other high heat oil)

2 lbs – boneless/skinless chicken thighs, cut into desired size and shape

Directions:

1. Begin preheating 1⁄2" of oil to 370° F in a skillet, over medium heat

2. In a bowl, mix first three ingredients

3. In another bowl, beat together beer, egg, and 2 tsp oil until fully combined

4. Thoroughly combine dry and wet ingredients

5. Coat chicken pieces with batter (add 1 piece to the bowl and mix with tongs until thoroughly covered)

6. Fry chicken pieces until browned and tender, turning once, half-way through, about 20 min totalNote: You will only. be able to do a few pieces at a time. Do not "crowd" the chicken in the oil, ensuring that no piece in the oil is in contact with any other.Secondary Note: Oil may "splatter" when you add the chicken. Using an ovenmit or glove to hold the tongs can be advised if you are unfamiliar with frying in oil.

–Maintain oil as close to 370° F as possible–

7. It is recommended that you temp check the chicken, ensuring that the center of each piece has reached 165° F, thus fully cooked.

8. Remove chicken from the oil with tongs and place onto a plate covered with paper towels to absorb the excess oil (this keeps the result crisper)

Obligatory Disclaimer: 😅Please be safe and cook at your own risk. In the unlikely event of an oil fire, DO NOT USE WATER to put it out.

J.L.Mullins and MM do not guarentee your safety while you cook, though we do know this to be a tasty dish, if done according to the above recipe.

Enjoy! 😉

"In the unlikely event of an oil fire, DO NOT USE WATER to put it out. " .......That has to be said??.......

Ok, let me get my calculator and... a table converting American units of measurement to something the rest of the world can work with 🤣 In all seriousness, though, thank you for the recipe! I'll give it a go once I have translated it 😉

Cyrus McEnnis

If someone's not used to cooking, yeah, it does have to be said.

J.L.Mullins

Do thick zucchini slices. It's almost as amazing. 😉

Jo

I think one of the reasons I think that's strange is that there is a saying in my native language that's getting on like oil and water... (i.e. not at all.)

Alexander Dupree

That's a saying in English as well though it might just be a transplant from yours.

Jo

Unlikely, it is after all a really common observation ;-) . But maybe it is a little more widespread/used where I live so that it's pretty much on top of my mind when I think of... well putting oil and water together xD

Alexander Dupree

1 kg chicken. 80g of flour. Big pinch of salt smaller pinch of baking soda (the tsp to weight only works if you can garuntee the grain size is the sane for you and the author)

Almost like tempura. Sweet potato would probably be awesome too. I should know better than to read recipes when I'm hungry.

Melting Sky

A teaspoon is equal to roughly 5 ml in the metric system.

I don't normally cook but I'm hungry now.....
